First of all I would like to say that I'm strongly against an infantry only mode, or vehicle only mode. There should be one Ambush mode and only one.
With that said I think the current Ambush mode could use some improvements.
1. There simply must be several Supply Depots present on all the maps.
I don't think I need to comment further on this really. There must be an option to change fittings without dying.
2. The maps should be bigger in general.
This is mostly related to Manus Peak, which is just god awful in Ambush to say the least.
3. It would be nice if the Turret Installations dropping in would be more random.
With this I mean that it would be nice if the same Turrets wouldn't drop in at the same place at the same time in every match. For example in one match the Large Blaster Turret could drop in at spot A at time X, in the next match at spot B at time Y, and then in the next match at spot A at time Z.
4. There should be at least a handful of CRUs on every map.
What if there were several CRUs on the map and control of them gave you 10 extra clones each? I think that would be great.
So let's say there's a bunch of CRUs on the map. The teams uses the "default/random" spawn to spawn in and then capture the CRU closest to them. Both teams will now have 10 clones extra, 90 total. One team then takes another CRU and is now at 100 clones. This keeps going on the entire match, where if you take a neutral CRU your team gets 10 extra clones and if you take over an enemy CRU your team gets 10 extra clones, but the other team also loses 10 of their clones.
If you take over an enemy CRU while they have less than 10 clones left, the match instantly ends with you winning.
I think this would improve Ambush a lot. |

+1
First of all, we will eventually be able to spend isk on our own installations. This will enable players to call in supply depots, CRUs, and turrets wherever we want on the battlefield in order to create our own maps and strategies. Even then, having more random spawns, and more of them, would be great.
Also, for your second idea, yes, maps should be bigger, but I also think they need more cover/height variables.
For instance, Manus peak has a lot of big open roads running through it, with even more roads going around the whole thing. The biggest problem with this is that there is nowhere to hide on the outside, and the redzone restricts players from sneaking around the outside because of these roads. There's some cover options right next to the roads, but we can't go behind there because of the redzone. |
