Ever heard of Bojo? No? Good.
This is the announcement that my pet project: Bojo's Grand Bazaar, is now a go!
Gambling The system of wagers used to bet on corp battles will be similar to that of horse racing, where a ranking in odds is given to a corp based on their skill level/chances of stomping. So that means that betting on the Imperfects on a fight against scrub corp will not double your money. However, that means that a successful wager on the underdog corp can more than double your reward.
Bets can be placed in two ways:
In Corp: Join the corp, and donate to the corp. It's balance will be monitored tightly. You must send mail after donating specifying the amount, what corp it is on, what battle it is on, the date/time. You will receive a reply which will be your receipt.
Out of Corp: You must go through 3rd party services (Spero's Escrow Service) and you must go through the same mailing procedure as above. NOTE: Bojo's Grand Bazaar and affiliates are not responsible for the success or lack there of of any third party transactions. Nor are we responsible for compensation of said service. That is your liability.
Note: There will be maximum and minimum bets, set specifically for each different battle, and wagers are only valid for BGB sponsored/approved events.
This corp in the future will also indulge in trade.
Contacts: Bojo The Mighty J3Eleven
Post Note to CEO's/Directors: Mail us so we can get approved corp battles set up. |

I will be assisting Bojo (under the name JL3Eleven Clone) in trying to get this project off the ground. My main purpose in all of this is to have a safe honest place to trade or sell unwanted gear and items at a fair price for all parties involved. We are not doing this to screw people over nor are we trying to get screwed. That being said I personally have been buying, saving, and collecting some of everything since day 1 just to trade or sell. I don't tank but I have proto turrets, I will never Logi Bro but have complex pickup sticks, see where I'm going. Items from BPO's and boosters to vehicles and officer weapons will be available not to mention ISK and AUR if thats allowed.
Currently trading is not available but once it happens Bojo and I want to hit the ground running, so please keep us in mind. |

I think this is a great idea, especially where mercs from different corps can work together. My only fear is that greed could get in the way. Could you explain what fail-safes you have in place to curb greed/stealing/other? Also, how will you deal with exploits (as we all know everything can be exploited in one way or another) or people taking advantage of the system? Also, how will you deal with someone trying to pump-n-dump (essentially it's where someone is able to inflate a small/unknown company to extreme highs through both excessive PR pumps as well as an excessive increase in money, to then just have that person pull their money out when they have made enough profit allowing everyone else to be caught in the downward spiral). Also how will you curb people from scamming others? You could have the cleanest business, but there is always a potential for corruption.
I understand that you guys have good reputations, but this is New Eden where corruption, greed and scams run rampant. |

I understand that you guys have good reputations, but this is New Eden where corruption, greed and scams run rampant. You're going to have to explain this stealing business. With only me and J3Eleven handling the money, and our reputations on the line (I'm a big fan of 'em), no one is going to have access to the money other than us. There is no fail-safe for a director stealing money and running, for every corp regardless of type, creed, or size, including the one you're in right now.
Now about rigged battles as you are talking about. With maximum betting sizes, we intend to set them at a level to where the payout in ISK may not be worth the loss of reputation in corp. There are some pretty low people out there, but if we suspect rigged battles, we will blacklist the corp, and take down as much information on it as possible (names, IDs, association, etc.)
Now a concern of yours might also be of this corp setting up rigged battles. Well there is no official fail safe to prove that this won't happen, but keep in mind that rigging a battle means that people outside our corp would know of us rigging battles, threatening our reputation let alone our business.
Payout inflation on a corp is a foreseeable threat as well. However we don't intend to pick up battles where the odds are severely unbalanced. In example, setting up an unranked corp vs. Imperfects. Those kinds of matches will rarely if ever occur. It is a problem for us because: A) It will probably equate to loss of money, as no one would place bets on the underdog side, which is most likely to lose.
B) It could allow outside exploitation of odds & payout. For example: Imperfects purposefully lose a battle to high payout corp (underdog) and collect their bets.
If people attempt to scam via our corp (whether they're in it or not) we will hunt you down. . My cofounder is a member of the Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunterz. You have been warned.
We intend to run a clean business. It is for profit, I mean my main runs a non profit training corp, I have to pick up cash somewhere. But this is our brainchild, our little bundle that will **** gold into our pockets. We will nurture it.

Wagers: Minimum and Maximum Bets
For every wager, there will be a minimum and maximum bet. Failure to comply with this will render your wager void, and your money will not be returned.
The minimum and maximum bets will work as so:
The higher the odds of winning, the lower the maximum bet.
The lower the odds of winning, the higher the maximum bet.
Maximum and Minimum bets are variable, and will differ for each event, and for each side (corp). This means that two sides of the same wager could have different betting standards.

Thank you both for your detailed responses and explanations. I might have seemed paranoid, but I just want to make sure that the product I might be using will not end up hurting me in the end. I look forward to partaking in both the betting and the market, good luck to you both and I wish you a profitable future. |

My prediction this goes good for a year than when they have thousands of people betting constantly they will just take everything. Too many eve scams have started this way, this has a chance to be the Dust version. I am not saying this is a scam but one thing eve does teach you is trust no one. Now if these guys are honest then I wish them all the best of luck with what they are trying to do and I think what they are trying to do is cool. |

Boomer Dues Mortis wrote:My prediction this goes good for a year than when they have thousands of people betting constantly they will just take everything Funny thing: We're not going to hold THAT many bets at once, unless we grow to be so and have the ability to cope with that much mail and money management. We're going to start off with controlled environment, this is like landing on the moon. So don't expect lots of bets being open to lots of people.
Secondly, since this is an alt, I'm just going to grow this wallet then ISK transfer profits to my main. That way it would be a continuous business that is continuously feeding my wallet, rather than a one time deal that although may be enticing, I know it won't be worth it. |

Uprising Betting Method:
Now with Wallet transparency, we can efficiently tell who donated what and when. Security buff! We will still use mail to verify and give receipts (as well to tell the bets apart).
Stay tuned for developments. |

We now no longer require alternates or corporation joining nor 3rd party escrow services. We will post all books and ledgers publicly so all have proof and assurance that their bet is both valid and active. Send mail to Bojo The Mighty. |

Pretty sure that little disclaimer in regards to "Bojo's Grand Bazaar and affiliates are not responsible for the success or lack there of of any third party transactions. Nor are we responsible for compensation of said service. That is your liability. " turns me off a good bit, I love gambling ingame and do it frequently whether its throwing bounties on players on the opposing team or organizing high stakes knife fights but even then there is an understanding that money is going to change hands and WILL be sent to the winning party.
Not being able to guarantee the safety of you're customers $$ is a big nono. |
