CCP, I know you've had a hell of a time trying to figure out a spawn system for ambush. How about give players a choice?
Keep the current spawn system in place. However, also give players a choice to spawn at a "home base". Somewhere that would be inaccessible (red line) to the enemy. This would allow players to either roll the dice on the random spawn mechanic in the main part of the map OR choose to spawn back at "home base" If your team is being "red-lined", you can always choose to spawn in the middle of the map using the random spawn system.
Allow players to spawn where they feel is best. Either randomly among their teammates/opponents or in their default home territory. This way, if they spawn in a bad spot...it's partially their own fault.
IMO, this is the easiest solution, w/o having to try and revamp whatever algorithm the game uses for the random spawn. |

Most Ambush games should have a drop uplink guy. I did one game and made over 1500 points in less than 30 sec's it was awesome! I think thats the point though. If people work as a team they wont need to have those options. Gives a chance for people to work as one unit and not always try to be a hero. Just me though. Now if your a solo player I can see this being somewhat of a problem... In a way though it teaches those COD and other fps players to really work as a team and to fulfill roles. Good idea though :) |

I like it. As a heavy, I can't carry equipment (so no uplinks for me) and sometimes you're in a match without any teammates putting them down. Sometimes even if they do put down uplinks, your team is getting overrun so much that the enemy team finds them and just spawn camps them anyway. I'd love an alternate spawn location that might be give me breathing room if my team is getting trampled.
My only suggestion would be to make sure that the safe spawn, is not too far beyond the enemies redline, and even your own redline should be right there. This way players cant just hide behind the redline all match. Opponents would be able to trap them and shoot them if all they did was camp back there. This way, they could only use it for breathing room. If they DO get spawn camped, like OP said they can then just randomly spawn in the middle of the map. |
