I'm going to put together a video on this just for haha's because I have dozens of clips of this, but I for one am really hoping that Uprising brings an end to these shenanigans.
You know what I'm talking about. Snipers perched up on mountains, and when you shoot them in the head, their shields flare bright blue....aaaaaaaaaannnnnddddddddddd......no damage. So, snipers, enjoy your freebies while you can, and CCP, please don't overlook this >_<
I know this happens with most weapons to some degree, but it's most obvious in this situation. |

Thankfully I'll be able to hone in on the sound of their sniper fire (thank you surround sound headset) even when they are cloaked.
As for us knifers, this is what they will hear.

Just because you can't popshot snipers to death doesn't make them invulnerable. As soon as "Their shields flare bright blue" they're usually as good as dead, because you know where they are, and provided you take the effort to move into a position where you can reliably hit them they won't stand a chance against a well fit and played heavy or assault suit. |

No, they become immune to damage. Like, shoot them 4, 5, 6 times in the head, no damage. I'll get the video together soon lol.
Sometimes you can hustle halfway across the map to maybe get an angle where the terrain doesn't glitch them into God mode, but usually that doesn't work so well, especially since most of those guys are using officer or prototype snipers, and usually have a drop uplink up there.
I have clips though where they're completely in the open, nothing blocking them, same business. |

Snipers hate this terrain rendering bug just as much as anyone else...we get the shield effect without damage when we fire more than anyone else in all likelyhood.
A lot of the time, when you think that sniper keeps missing you its the same bug you're complaining about saving your life... *shrugs*

I've never had that issue, then again, I don't camp on top of mountains |

Actually, I rarely do either...unless I run up a hill to counter snipe. But I've run into this quite a bit at extended range.
At D-UNI we're trying to cultivate a role called the Marksman. A sniper style that is just as dangerous at short to mid range spending probably more time using their side arm than their rifle...it's definately more fun than sitting in the hills all day! |

Ill be happy if hit detection in general gets fixed... its hard to sneak up on someone with a shotgun when your first well placed headshot does nothing more than scream oh hai I'm shooting you... |

You don't have to tell me man, been dealing with that since June '12 lol >_< I'm praying it gets fixed too because I'm specializing as a shotgun scout in Uprising, 100% |

No, lol, they aren't immune to damage. You're shooting dirt. That's right, dirt. What looks like an exposed sniper isn't, and this is due to the way the lod is drawn. You have to move, usually to higher ground, in order to get a shot that doesn't intersect the ground on the way to the target.
This is not a hit detection issue, it's a draw distance issue. |

Like I said, I'll try and toss together that video today, lots of hunting for those specific clips. I have plenty of clips where their whole upper half is exposed, sometimes they're entirely exposed: same business.
And how exactly does one move to higher ground when they're on top of a mountain?

I forget where a dev posted on this or what medium, but this type of immunity should be fixed in the big update on May 6th. I really wish I had the link somewhere, but I'm lazy and don't feel like using the search feature for you. I know it sucks right now, but it will be addressed in future builds I am sure. |

Like I said, they only look exposed because you are seeing the low poly terrain mesh, but they're standing on the high poly mesh.
If you move to higher ground than you are on currently, usually that will give you a clean shot. You don't need to be higher than them.

What I've found when I can't shoot them is if you shoot the arrow above their head, dead center of the arrow, your bullet will fly just above the dirt and hit them. Granted doesn't have 100% chance of working, but I find its worked around 90% of the time |
