How old are the EvE forums? Have they been active since EvE "beta?" I just ask because I took a look at their forums, and their general discussion has 20k posts, and ours has 18k. I find this strange since Dust is a year and some change old, and EvE is 10(?) years old. You would think they would have a ridiculously larger amount of posts than us.

This I believe keeps a close record of all the posts ever made in the Eve Forums. I think Chribba did the same for Dust. |

And yet if you look at the back of their forums, the rear 50% is locked because it's old. Just like ours. You would think they would delete that by now. |

Actually, the EVE forums in total have close to 180k posts in General Discussion.
EVE have had their forums running since 2003, and in September 2011 they decided to "switch" forum software, but they were unable to actually merge the data - so essentially a whole new empty forum was created (you can view the old at http://oldforums.eveonline.com/)
That's why they are fairly similar, while DUST forum has not been around that long DUST pretty much only has GD and Feedback/Bugs to post in adding to the fact that the GD here is growing more rapidly.
EVE-Search ( http://eve-search.com/ ) lists both old and new forums merged, hence why its GD count will say 178k DustSearch ( http://dustsearch.com/ ) works the same way (even though there's only one version of the DUST forums so far).

Also bear in mind that EVE most likely has a fair few fan sites with forums too. |

Most corps and alliances in EVE run their own forums, and have for a very long time. Additionally there are several third-party forums that anyone can create an account on.
The official forums only contain a small fraction of the total EVE related posting. |
