Eventually, mining should be implemented in dust. To do this, I suggest there be certain districts with mining facilities. These would work similar to clone manufacturing, mining a certain amount of minerals per day. |

There will come a time where industry will be added. But I would rather wait because the economy needs to be started first and that alone takes a looooooong time to perfect. |

Yeah, let's talk mining. And let's talk mining via exploration. ^_^ |

Um, yeah we do because industry will play a very key role on how Dust effects the Eve economy and CCP needs to see how the Dust economy balances out before implementing a feature that will vastly effect it.
But let's assume you're right and that players will be given the option to mine to produce things without needing the economy. You mine, you refine, and you manufacture the weapons and vehicles for use in battle. You will have a sufficient stock to last you a long time without having to purchase vehicles from the market which means a significant cut to cost.
However, what about the players who decide to go all the way with mining and become industrial moguls who are able to produce HUGE quantities of vehicles, suits, modules and weapons with minimal cost? What will they do with the excess of equipment? Remember that in the world of supply and demand any commodity that is just sitting in the hangar is money not moving and money not moving translates to lost time and since time is money that means money is lost for every second that commodity is not being put into the market.
Now let's assume that you can mine but need equipment now but don't have time to mine to make them. You will be willing to pay a premium for the convenience which is what the industrial moguls are looking for to turn a profit.
If industry can be implemented without a player-run economy, the profits you can make from it will probably be only marginal and not worth specializing into as a mogul and as a result you become relegated to just being a small-time manufacturer for your corp's needs. Even if you can sell the excess equipment to NPC buyers, the profits will probably not be much and the price per unit of commodity will probably not rise in your favor to make a profit on. |

In dust, single player mining moguls will be uncommon because they will need to defend their facility. A dev stated that before an economy is put in place, a simple trade mechanic will. Also, eve players will have no use for ARs and dropsuits, so an integrated economy won't be necessary for this. |

Uh, no we don't need mining. Let the Pod People move dirt with their machines.
We are Mercenaries. We are aligned (will be anyway) with many EVE Corps.
If you want to mine for the Betterment of DUST, start up your own Pod Person and mine to your hearts content and the need of your Corp. |

Actually, there may need to be mining at some point in the future when you consider the fact that one day Dust players will need to produce their own vehicles, weapons, suits, etc. once the NPC supply runs out.
Besides, once the secondary player-controlled market is implemented with buy/sell orders and stuff, Dust players will be able to make good profit from just market trading alone (HELLOOOOOOOOOO MARGIN-TRADE SCAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Also, if only Eve players can manufacture our Dust equipment, then that will just invite Eve players willing to abuse the system and corner the market. |

They won't need to. Plenty of capsuleers would feel right at home selling us products for inflated prices.

Those prices will be dictated by supply and demand. A complex damage module will have a tough time selling for 5,000,000 ISK because there will always be Eve players willing to undercut the competition by selling cheaper to attract customers. |
