Supposedly, one day we will not all just be a bunch of planetary bull's-eyes for the capsuleers, as from what I've heard CCP plans to let use actually shoot back at EVE players as well, using structures and, according to THIS thread, even our own tanks.
My question is: How will this work? Will we just set up turrets that fire into the sky, and the blasts are aimed randomly at ships eve-side, or will we actually be able to aim for specific types of ships or even the ships themselves?
Could this work like the reverse of an orbital strike, where an eve ship actually targets a ship (acting as a spotter) and the dust cannons accept the request?
How do you guys think this will work? And do we KNOW anything about this, or has CCP yet to decide? |

I see it as a counter to OB's. The other team can't have there eve pilot send a strike if there ship is blown up. I hope it makes the team firing it vulnerable in some way. Like they need to use three players to operate it, or some disadvantage to the advantage of taking out a teams OB power. |

You're fighting an entrenched position, you don't get to have the advantage. Either capture the battery or get better with your gun. |

Ok, maybe I didn't word my original post very concisely (sorry I was getting called away and didn't proof well, my bad)
What I was trying to ask was HOW will we shoot back? HOW might the targeting mechanisms work?
This seems confusing to me, because to my understanding we are never going to actually SEE Eve ships, as they are on an entirely different game engine, and so I am unsure how we are going to aim.
Will we just target randomly? |

my assumption was that it would target ships randomly that were associating with the enemy faction using the method they use to maintain contact across games, then determine chance of hit, and amount of damage using the games calculations. |
