That's actually correct, as in Eve the laser takes a lot of energy to run, which is why laser ammo in Eve doesn't run out (unless it's the unique kind) because of the major capacitor drain. |

Lasers in Eve use crystals as ammo, and all tech 1 laser based weapons use the standard tech 1 crystals which never run out when fired, its only tech two crystals that get consumed when fired and as no tech two gear has been introduced into Dust yet I think that the ammo for any current laser based weapons is infinite. |

so one day perhaps running a logi with laser will be better then runnig a scout with laser? |

Little known fact, but the Minmatar actually developed a Laser Rifle also, but it never got out of field testing.
The gyroscopic effect from the energy storage flywheel threw off aim too much. |

It focueses light/ or some sort of energy through focusing lenses.
I wouldn't rightly know what that energy source is since the Laser Rifle was taken out of Amarrian military rotation almost a month a go. |
