You won't get a straight answer on this.........ANYWHERE. But the smart money is on CCP prepping a major build of Dust for a little while after launch. |

PS4 is part of the "10 year plan" for DUST 514.
DUST 514 isn't listed as a release title for the PS4.
Anything more concrete than that coming from someone who isn't an official source will see me asking for a source. |

If CCP caves to the gaming PC crowd then no. If CCP stays strong and keeps SONY on board then yes. The DUST started on a console at the end of its life. DUST will have 7 years worth of skills and the PS3 won't last that long so if dies, goes to PC or PS4. I like the last the most. |

My money is on PS4 release on what ever day followed by an announcement by CCP, the announcement being they have an announcement to make SOONGäó followed by a few weeks/months of SOONGäóimg us into a frenzy intermixed with some light trolling from FoxFour. Eventually we will get an announcement announcing they will be announcing the announcement of updating DUST to the PS4 which will ofcourse be SOONGäó. |

Is there some reason that Dust couldn't run on both the PS3 and PS4 simultaneously? Pardon my ignorance on the inner workings of these wonderful little, life stealing, gaming machines, but its like the backwards compatability thing. I don't understand why if the PS4 uses blu ray discs and the PS3 uses blu ray discs....then why won't the PS4 play PS3 games? I would think that is even more true for a game like DUST which is all digital installed on a hard drive and much of which is ran "server side"
Anyone who can educate me on this, it would be appreciated |

The PS3 used proprietary chips that used a completely different technology than standard computers. PS3 games had to be made in order to run on these specialized chips. The PS4 will be returning to a more standard setup, so there will be a major difference in the internal hardware of each machine.
Basically the PS3 runs games using a different process than the PS4 will use to run games. |

Given that the PS3 and PS4 will have different architectures, that's not to say there can't be a version of Dust514 compiled for the PS4.
As long as the PS4 version doesn't do anything to put it at an advantage over the PS3 version, then both clients could connect to the EVE/Dust415 servers and they could play together.
We're talking about a game developer that made two different games work on the same server. CCP can make a version of the PS3 Dust514 game that will run on the PS4. I'd be very surprised if they didn't. |
