Not to rain on anybodies parade. Last I checked anyone could play the game since January. The game is always going to be upgraded. If a game that is constantly upgraded has been playable by everyone since January it is a game that has been fully released. As fully as at anytime it ever will be. |

Wrong for the reason of this: The game does not have all features or content promised by CCP that the game will have on release. Therfor the game has not been fully released. |

A software release schedule is determined by the developers.

The same can be said for Eve but according to CCP, the Uprising build will be the "official release" which basically implies full release.

CCP Navigator wrote:Perhaps my wording was a little off and for that I am sorry.
CCP Navigator wrote:The wording for this was off and has been amended. It should simply have stated that Uprising was going to be released so apologies if the message conveyed was incorrect.

And last i checked the word "full" meant available to everyone not by how much content was released. Words are just that. WORDS!!! if you wanna play along with their cheap marketing gimmick go ahead |

Detective Scroats wrote:And last i checked the word "full" meant available to everyone not by how much content was released. Full doesn't mean "available to everyone". Not even close. If you're going to argue semantics, don't make up definitions for words, it makes you look silly.
"Full" is synonymous with "complete" or "entire" in this context. "Full release" is actually another thing entirely. Taking each word out and trying to break it down is ridiculous.
Detective Scroats wrote: Words are just that. WORDS!!! This doesn't make sense. First you're trying to argue the word has a specific, undebatable definition and then you shout WORDS at us, evidently in a manner dismissive of language as a concept.
Detective Scroats wrote: if you wanna play along with their cheap marketing gimmick go ahead No, it's actually how software's life cycle works everywhere.

It will never be complete because they will keep adding to it. Just like they have since January. When everyone who owned a PS3 was able to download and play It. Our money is much more valuable to CCP then our creative input. I'm just saying they are trying to cultivate significance. But hey, I'm sure that Skyfire battery that shoots straight up will dominate its one linear path into the sky. |

Guys, it doesn't matter how all us or Webster's Dictionary for that matter define "Full Release". The every company in the globe reserves the absolute and unadulterated right to label their game as full release, beta, or whatever status of development they like so long as the content delivered matches the content described for that particular release so as to not be accused for misbranding a product.
Seriously, you people don't realize that those developers are the ones who have the final say on matters like this. Sure, game developers benefit from our feedback, but things like development status (full release, demo, closed beta, open beta) are not within our scope as players and testers to decide on for the company.
Also, that is enough. I'm sick and tired of threads like this cropping up just because some random has a different opinion on how the development status of a product should be described. Did you actually think you have more authority than the developer to decide on that? You are just a player/tester who is simply stepping out beyond his own jurisdiction when it comes to this.
If CCP call it full release, then it's full release. If they want to call it permanent beta, then it's permanent beta. If a company like CCP wants to call it permanent beta but commercially be considered full release like Eve Online, then... well... we got a game with an identity crisis. |
