I haven't used sniper rifles enough recently to have a definitive answer but the few times I had the chance the LWSS Skill does not seem to affect the range for my 511. I suspect this might be a system wide problem* as I have yet to verify a single weapon working at the distance that a lvl 2 should be hitting at much less my recently acquired lvl 3.
599 meters * 1.1 = 658.9m 599 meters * 1.15 = 688.8m
With the above calculations I certainly should have been able to hit a target at 635m. Before you harpers all jump in, this was not a Shield Flash nor a Hit Detection problem. I moved to ~585m and popped the Red.
So, Snipers, would you mind adding to the input here? Test by targeting Reds at various ranges and if you can, safely, adjust your position see if you can actually still hit the Red at your extended range. Or at least beyond the default 599m.
* My alt has the same problem with the Heavy Weapon Sharp Shooter Skill, BTW. |

actually it does work, it just wont even be really noticable.. just gotta train it to max to really notice |

Rachoi could be right =/ from eve i have had a lot of situations where before i max the skill i don't notice any diff but after maxing the skill my ship seams to just evolved and become some kinda beast |

I realize that you both may be correct.
That doesn't address the fact that the purported functionality of the Skill uses some calculation to get up to level 5. If they only enable it once it is at level 5 than the entire premise is ... just wrong.
So this is a Bug unless I discover otherwise. I will continue to test and document it but this level of systemic failure is getting old.
Yet another feature that doesn't work correctly or as described. Great. May ought to be hoot with all the rumored changes. Of course, simplifying could translate to removing items that don't work. That would simplify so much. |

oh dear, here comes another one....you guys snipers are the ruin of the game, hiding like rats behind rocks and killing people on the battleground, may I suggest to you all the new PS3 Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and get the hell out of here. |

Can you tell me which map you were on? and where each of you were? The render distance is less than the range on your sniper. You could have just been hitting a rock that you were too far away from to actually see.
I just came back from a Skirmish on Manus Peak where I was being fired upon by several snipers, but I had 100% cover and they shouldn't have been able to see me yet somehow they did. They couldn't hit me, or course, since I was behind a ridge but they kept on with a barrage until they realized I wasn't taking damage.
I've never noticed that the SR even has a range cap, I've never seen a target 600M away. |

LWSS works as intended on sniper rifles and makes a big difference in what you can reach on certain maps. |
