The tradeoff for being able to repair other allied units is putting yourself in combat. If you're able to repair without engaging, then it seems like a pretty one-sided advantage [12:50:17] [CCP]Blam that's not to say I won't have a look, but this is the reasoning
Just to complete it.
My impression is that Remote Repair between vehicles work OK, but the Shield Transporter is mostly useless due to range and not being able to keep a lock long enough.
Basically, having to park right behind a HAV to use a Shield Transporter is putting the HAV in severe risk, for too little benefit.
So, what I'd look for is a minimal range-increase, in the 1-2 meter range for the Shield Transporter.
note: as seen in public matches, I've no problem putting my LAVs at risk. |

Since this is a transporter thread :
I am trying them out fitted to a drop ship. A little extra range would be useful (just a metre or 3) or functionality like the Logi repair tools. Being able to maintain a lock and refresh the module would help. Being able to clearly see what is going would be helpful too.
With the module recticale in the nose its damn tricky to see it you have a lock and maintain a safe distance so my explosive paint doesn't destroy us. For a DS in particular extra range is needed as swarms knock my ship about. I need a little more or a safety margin to avoid the effects of the OP swarms. |

I have personally tried EVERY vehicle to fill the logistics roll multiple times. With out fail it has disappointed me each time.
Like i said in IRC
Drop Ship to HAV - As likely to nose dive into the top of your tank as apply rep. This is due to range and UI, both (I have good pilots, its not a matter of skill.) - Inadequate EHP for the roll due to base stats and fitting requirements of modules. (inadequate CPU/PG)
Dropship to Dropship - Nigh impossible to do at high speed, time and difficulty to set up renders the idea a moot point that is rendered useless by local reps.
LAV to HAV - If the LAV and HAV come into contact with one another the LAV is destroyed and the tank is damaged. (low speed collision is most times adequate to make this happen.) - Inadequate EHP for the roll due to base stats and fitting requirements of modules. (inadequate CPU/PG.)
HAV to HAV -Issues with coordination of two HAV's in confined spaces within 10 to 15 meters of one another. It works, unlike the above. However, it is sadly is severely out performed by two tanks with local reps. |

Remote reppers suck
You have to lock on with your turret and also if you turn away it may turn off because the turret is out of range
The range needs to be doubled i would say because you cannot use a dropship either for logi because you have to be on top of it and it makes it a sitting duck |

+1 on this topic to be looked at. Ive tried it and found it difficult. LAV to HAV simply everyone shoots the lav because they go pop fast. Even highly tanked with 3500 ehp on my lav, 2 swarms im dead. No reason at all to run a repping vehicle at this stage. No war points for my effort and no reason to use it other than strictly corp fights which 99.9% of the corp ceo's dont want them on the field |

I really like the mechanics of the LAVs, and trying to find various uses of them (building a HAV-Hunter LAV, need people to help test it). Doing the remote-rep and shield-transport dance is kinda fun, but WAY too dangerous currently.
