Rise up comrades. Either I got April trolled or uprising sharpshooter will affect long range accuracy.
Now this better not be first shot accuracy. The best thing dust has going for it gameplay wise is the ability to land the first shot with counter-strike precision. The only thing newbies will have on bitters is the ability to land those militia shots in the head if they have the player skill. The only thing that separates good snipers are the 700m headshots.
Make sure dust is not converted to spray and pray. Do not change the most functional player accuracy part of the game. First shots must land precisely to keep the game competitive. |

Nothing personal but this game could use less snipers and more people attacking the objectives. Just my opinion. |

I love the Breach variants of assault rifles for this reason. Yes, I know they got nerfed, but they still hold their own if used correctly. As in, spray, strafe, and pray. |

The reason why there are too many snipers per match is simply because there is currently a huge amount of people going solo into a match, without Corp team mates.
Once the game rewards Corp team work, with Planetary conquest, etc., you will likely see less of this, or at least see more organized snipers...which could be worse for you, thinking about it, lol. |

Combine that with the fact that nearly every map is a snipers paradise, projectiles have no drop over distance, there is very little lead distance on moving targets due to the speed of the projectiles. Last but not least is the redline, or safety zone for the sniper, where he only needs worry about other snipers with no chance of his position being overrun.
Not saying it doesn't take skill to be a good sniper, just that it's certainly the least danger close role one can assume. Too boring for me. |

That derail is a prelude to how skill will be derailed from dust if guns won't hit where you point them. |

What the kitten do sniper count in matches have to do with what trollsroyce is talking about? If there is a mechanic (read: sharpshooter skill levels increasing accuracy) that waters down player skill to aim properly, then we move closer to a spray and pray environment. I love dust for what it is now, which is a tracking shooter. I don't want to play a twitch shooter.
Now, whether or not sharpshooter will be changed from the current mechanic of increasing damage at range to essentially a level-up'able auto-aim... I haven't seen anything that points to that. Let's hope we don't, ever.
Stay on target, gentlemen.

Not sure what you're talking about.
Pretty sure CCP said that sharpshooter skill will go from adding range to improving shot dispersion. Meaning, the higher your sharpshooter skill, the less dispersion/more shots on target.

Sniping takes next to no skill at all... counter sniping... now that takes some skills.
We find having a sniper in a squad of 4 very full, for over watch, intel and taking out AV set ups when we're doing tanks. |

Currently your first shot (depending on weapon, but let's say AR for example) lands directly on target, be it head at 100m off.
If sharpshooter affects this so, that for a newbie with no SP in it the same first shot would land anywhere within a half meter radius - no reason to aim in head, just click upper torso and hope for a lucky headshot.
This is my concern. We might end up with a game where, for roleplay reasons, you cannot expect to score headshots because the bullets just land "somewhere around there, improved by sharpshooter skill". Instead, you'd be best off aiming for the chest at long distance to hit the target in the first place.
The first shot should IMHO be always on the pixel you aim it at. I wish CCP is not going the way of changing this with Uprising. |

Based on their wording, I'm pretty sure this won't be a problem.
At the moment, AR Ops description is "improves dispersion and kick"
The podcast says that AR Ops will affect "kick" and Sharpshooter affects "dispersion".
Those are the same stats we're already improving. |

The way i saw it, is the COF "bloom" if you do not look down the sights, but just shoot your AR, the cross hairs bloom out. I think sharpshooter will be a reduction of how fast it expands. what i am really interested in is how this will effect pinpoint weapons like the laser rifles. |
