A tank or medium-size vehicle with cloaking abilities much like how the scout has where if they move or shoot they become visible again. And if the said vehicle reps or uses any modules its become uncloaked. Hell it could even be a militia tank just have built in cloaking so it cant be fitted on a surya or a gunlogi |

What the actual frick. Tanks are powerful already. Either tanks would become seriously OP or it would be nerfed to complete non-usefulness |

Either tanks would become seriously OP or it would be nerfed to complete non-usefulness With sufficient drawbacks, everything is balanced. In EVE, unless you are in a Covert ops ship, you can't target anything until like 15-30 seconds after you decloak. So, just write a little description that says, "The vast amount of power consumed to cloak something of this size renders your weaponry systems unusable for the duration of the cloak and x seconds after (reduced by 10% per level of racial HAV skill)." |

Ulysses, slypie11 was being offensive towards you or the OP. He was just saying that, at the moment, tanks are powerful and hard to go up against and cloaking them would make it even worse.
Pro: clocking would help those "paper tanks" that are easily destroyed. It can save a expensive tank from being destroyed in a match. Give and defensive advantage when defending something and being right there a no one knows.
Con: Adv - Pro tanks will be "Grim Reapers" you can't find them but they can find you. Cloaked redlining
I even though I'm not a tanker I like this idea, BUT there has to be a way to counter it. Maybe a thermal module that shows all cloaked thinging. Could be fit on AV fits and Counter Snipe fits.

Would probably work similarly to in EVE: can't attack shortly after cloaking, severely reduced speed. Y'know, like they said in the dev blog. |

There is another first person shooter that has a character that can go completely invisible for a period of time and can instantly kill you. Strangely, Valve doesn't have too much problems balancing the Spy from Team Fortress 2.
In EVE, Cloak is pretty much a "I am unkillable" ability. If you can't lock, you can't kill. The only way to get them would be by getting really lucky and uncloaking them by getting too close, killing them with a Smart Bomb which also means really lucky and getting close, or using a bomb and hoping they are somewhere in the area of effect of the target you shot at. In DUST, there is no lock on requirement. A Forge Gun and probably AV Grenades would still work wonders. It all comes down to how they implement it.
Be well. |
