The other day I saw some enemy proximity mines on a road. I shot them, in the process accidentally killing a teammate who was too close to the blast. A bit later, I had an idea; placing proximity mines (or remote explosives for that matter) directly on top of friendly drop uplinks, thus creating a trap for any enemy who tries to shoot them. If I recall correctly, Proximity are much larger, more powerful explosives, thus being a more powerful option. However, Remote Explosives have the added ability to be detonated at will, possibly killing any spawn campers who are too close. Feedback? |

I thought of that once, but never really tried it. Good idea.
Maybe also add some nearby proxy mines to create a chain reaction. |

I place a remote explosive on every uplink I drop. Enemies blow themselves up on them all the time and if they're spawn camping, I respawn in the my Uplink/RE fit and detonate it, then drop a new uplink to kill the old one. It's super effective. |

Sounds like you found a new way to troll your team. Another idea is remote detonating by shooting them. You can use them to trap corners or even better you can use them as decoys. Since prox look just like RE you can use them to decoy by putting them where they can be spotted right away and destroyed while the real one is slightly more hidden. |

Or set up a super obvious one, with a few more well-hidden ones in the area that will explode and kill the shooter |

If the enemy actually looks, they are quite noticeable on top of a droplink. This typically works best if you toss the remote explosive and droplink into something that prevents a direct view of them, such as the trash bags in Ashlands.
Also, remote explosives don't throw the same distance as droplinks, so you have to get used to how they toss out to make them land properly. |

Definitely a good idea.
Would also like to point out additional things to with with mines such as the ability to make proximines go off by detonating a remote explosive next to it (Can make chain explosions if you set it up right). It's always cool ^_^ |

Already beat you to it: The Demoman: Type-I, or B-Series Logistics Dropsuit High Slots- Shield Extenders Low Slots- Armor Plate and armor repper Weapon - Assault Mass Driver, Flux Grenade Equipment- Remote Explosives, Remote Explosives, Gauged Nanohive
This is an absolute bastard fitting for holding down points, enclosed rooms, or narrow corridors. What you want to do is find a good area with only one or two ways in and lay down your bombs from one equipment slot on one side and bombs from the other slot on the other. Since you're working with two slots, you can detonate different sets of bombs on either area. You can also use this build to blow up installations once you unlock prototype explosives.
Don't try to alternate where you lay your explosives from each slot, because they'll all detonate from the chain reaction!
Be warned that the coding for an explosion's area of effect on uneven terrain is still bugged so there will be times that the enemy won't take damage while standing next to an explosive if there's the slightest change in elevation. Also, there's a ~5% change that your explosives will be duds. Not sure if this is a game mechanic or just a simple bug that hasn't been resolved. Last but not least, remote explosives can disappear at times too. It's a known bug, that should be addressed in Uprising. |

wow.. you have no idea how remote explosives work do you? they do not detonate in chain reaction, they go all together and you don't need two set of remotes you can only lay 5 TOTAL ACTIVE. like all other equipment if it slides it most likely will remove itself. there is a safe timer on all the explosives meaning if you activate it to soon after laying it you force it to dud out. to bad i use remote explosives better then most and with the refund all that sp will go somewhere else they really are fun.
denial scout type II scout high shield extenders low cardio stimx2 weapon shotgun locus nades equipment- remote(basic), f-45(advanced) i use this to protect the back lines and capture non-focused points to keep the MCC in my team's favor. best record recently 23-8 2122 warpoints. i had to prevent our team from getting redlined and had our team come back for the win. |

With 0 information given in the description, not even how much damage these things can do, all I have to go on is trial and error. Also, they do detonate in a chain reaction within eachother's range, learned that the hard way when I was on the wrong end of a grenade. I knew about the total active from testing, but thanks for covering that. The two different slots were for having the ability to lay as many bombs to hold an area without having to resort to nanohives. I didn't know about the safe timer since there's no indication on it in the description- Nice to learn something new everyday. |

you can place over 30m apart and watch that the both explode at the same time... that's well over the range of explosive and i have tested this and that's how it does work. |
