This is a proposal for a new attack/defend game mode which allows for 2 distinct ways for the attackers to win, and borrows elements from capture the flag.
Attackers possess an MCC that constantly launches missiles at a central objective (could be the defender's clone storage or something). For the missiles to actually hit the central objective, the attackers must deal with the anti-missile laser defense system (read on, i'll explain). Attackers win if their MCC destroys the central objective.
Defenders possess no MCC, but have an anti-missile laser defense system that destroys incoming missiles in order to protect the central objectives from the MMC's missiles. Defenders win by depleting the clone reserves of the attackers.
The anti-missile laser defense system The laser defense system consists of an array of laser cannons that shoot down the missiles fired by the attacker MCC.
The laser defense system is can be hacked and disabled by the attackers, but it is heavily protected with many turret installations, and possess nearby supply depots, and CRUs. Attacking the laser defense should be feasible, but it should require a substantial attack force to pull off successfully; basically, it shouldn't be easy to just take down the laser defense system.
The laser defense system has a limited power supply (or ammo), and must be resupplied with power cartridges that are manufactured, or "spawn" from special cartridge manufacturing installations.
The defenders will be notified when a new power cartridge spawns from the cartridge manufacturing installations, and will have to retrieve the power cartridges, and deliver them to the laser defense system. Capturing and delivering the power cartridge will be akin to "capture the flag" modes in other shooters. power cartridges must be picked up and carried by infantry, and are the size of swarm launchers.
Attack strategies There could also be specialized vulture squads to kill enemy power cartridge carriers, and then steal the missile packs.
The attackers have 2 options for dealing the laser defense system:
option 1: Attack the laser defense system, and this means you will have to deal with many turrets, and defenders spawning on the CRU with access to the supply depot. Option 2: Starve the defenders of power cartridges needed for the laser defense system by blockading the cartridge manufacturing installations to cut off the supply of the laser defense system.
Defender strategy There would be a niche for specialized "taxi" LAV drivers dedicated to getting the power cartridge carrier to the depleted laser defense system.
There could be specialized runner scouts dedicated to carrying and transporting the power cartridge with speed.
There could be specialized body guards dedicated to making sure the power cartridge runner gets to the laser defense cannons.
Thank you for reading. |

I swear, this sounds like a redesigned Skirmish 1.0, but with CTF in it. ANyways, I would love this if speeders came in the game, and I could shoot a pistol while driving. Damn, Miminatar semi auto pistol painted black in a scout suit flying away with the nitrous going firing away at my enemies firing at me having air support drop tons of bullets on them while I get away with the bomb.... SO awesome..... |

I would prefer it if the 'laser defence system' was actually a weapon shooting at the MCC. That way, there is a risk of losing the MCC if you lose the match, like in other MCC game modes. In your current suggestion, the only thing the attacker risks is clones, whereas the defenders are losing clones and will potentially lose a useful planetary facility.
EDIT: I do like the idea though! |

I think that would be unfair to have the laser defense system targets the attacker MCC as well since the defenders have no risk of losing an MCC.

TL;DR Version: Attackers have an MCC that shoots missiles at an objective (could be a clone storage facility). The missiles are being shot down before hitting their target by the defender's laser defense system, so attackers must shut down the laser defense system. Laser defense system is can be attacked head on and shut down, but it is heavily fortified so a head on attack really hard. Laser defense system is dependent on power cartridges to keep it functioning, and defenders have to get power cartridges as they spawn from special installations and take them back to the laser defense system (like capture the flag); attackers can prevent the defenders from taking the power cartridges to the laser defense system, and effectively starve the laser defense system to shut it down. Attackers win when the target is destroyed, defenders win if they deplete the attacker's clone reserves. |
