Well Dust 514 is, maybe, hard to deal with maps for developers, but I would like to know if you are going to make maps on planets and if so, what kind of maps?
With snow mountain maps, tropical maps, lava maps, arid ones. Water worlds? Shore maps? Tornadoes? Rain, snow, tsunami, star falls? Meteorites falling on map, killing randomly(so that you must be aware of them).
I think some of this maps may originate new type of battles.
Sneaky mission, sabotage on EVE station for example where EVE pilots are stationed.
How about dangerous creatures and plants so that not just enemy but environment would be unfriendly.
Different stars not just like sun but some red giants, blue dwarfs, white dwarfs, few stars at the same time, visible planets while on ground. Another planets that move during battle closing planet from star light making them fall into darkness. To improve reality of game play. Engine is capable of that, I think.
Thank you for your attention. |

Hi, here is a link to the thread on CCP at latest GDC2013: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=66223 some info on vegetation
This particular link: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=warning&l=http%3a%2f%2fi.imgur.com%2f1mYCMYM.jpg&domain=imgur.com
If you want a taste what can be done about foliage/vegetation in UnReal 3 (i.e DUST 514) check this google graphgics search up: https://www.google.pl/search?hl=pl&q=ue3+foliage&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.44442042,d.ZWU&biw=1280&bih=685&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=mhBXUZG_MImDOOPNgOAF
The only limitation is PS3 hardware and CCP Dev's imagination...
Unreal editor for PS3 (and all other supported platforms) comes with the complete editor for levels. There is no need to program every detail. It is almost a click and drag kind of work Unreal Engine takes care of all the animations, collision detection, physics and rendering... "All" you need is The Artwork... There is free version of Unreal Egine called UDK for home use and UE evaluation. Comes with precooked game that you can edit.... |

Well with the amount of planet types and the number of planets within Eve's universe, I'm surprised that we only have Tempered battlegrounds.
Where are the Lava plants? The floating bases on gaseous planets...
And the idea of Station invasion is very nice.
Like if we win the battle against the corp that controls the station its shield will be down for some time making an opening for Eve players to attack it, maybe...? That would be awesome!

I am pretty good at digital drawing(on paper too). That would be great if Developers open an ideas thread for terrain and how gamers see environment. With possibility to vote on best ideas that then could be fulfilled. As players make games better. |

Dalmont, get the UDK (it is completely FREE). http://www.unrealengine.com/udk/downloads/
Put all your great ideas in the format of UDK (UE3) project and send it to CCP. Make videos out of your project and post them to youtube for all of us to admire And possibly vote for... |

It will take some time as doing this on my own with limited time for hobby. Hard work it will be. I was using Blender, I'll see what UDK has to offer. I think drawing on paper and then scanning it would be faster.
P.S.: I flattered myself and didn't like it. |

UDK is faster and friendlier to use than Blender. Gets you faster into creating a prototype level. And i think it is easier to learn and use than Blender. UI is less "intimidiating" than in Blender.
A very simple level created with Blender (with the flying monkey, falling boxes, some trees and sorrunding montains) worked slower than the precooked game from UDK.
