the Madrugar tank:
Max CPU 210 Max PG 2690
the Surya tank:
Max CPU 235 Max PG 2740
Gallente HAV level 1 = from 100k to about 200k sp Gallente HAV level 2 = 349k to 500k sp Gallente HAV level 3 = 820,800k sp
from the Madrugar to the Surya, there is practically no difference besides base armor and shields, for something that costs 3x as much sp as the level 1 skill it has almost the same amount of everything.
it would make sense if the PG & CPU of the Surya would equal that of 3x the amount of CPU & PG the Mardugar has since it costs 3x as much as sp as level 1 skill does and it costs twice as much isk as the madrugar. |

that still doesn't justify the fact that an advanced HAV has basically the same amount of PG & CPU as a standard one, |

Skills can never be linear like that though. A Duvolle can't do three times the damage of a GEK because it requires three times the Skill Points. That would completely and totally make being even a difference of 1 million skill points insurmountable for a new player.
There are a few more things that you get from going to a Surya: The Marauder skill lets you increase damage of your guns. Not much, but it is there. The one extra high slot means you can also fit a DCU, a Signal Amplifier, or an Active Weapon Upgrade. With maxed Combat Engineering, it is 62.5 PG, I believe rounded to 63. Maxed Circuitry is 31.25 CPU, rounds to 31. Maxed Field Mechanics results in an extra 725 Armor. With, say, 40% resistance it is 1015 EHP. Not too shabby.
It is up to the individual to discover if the dump is worthwhile. The extra high slot is nice but, unlike the Sagaris that would put a Power Diagnostic System in the low slot, it doesn't add to EHP if a DCU is already being used.
For me, 3 times the SP and 6 times the base cost is not worthwhile for this hermit crab to get a slightly bigger shell.
Be well.

so the surya is meant to be another madrugar, how useless... not worth the sp then |

In EVE, there is a class of ships called Marauders. To even learn the skill, it requires Weapons Upgrades (about 12 days), Advanced Weapons Upgrades (hmmm, 36 days), Energy Grid Upgrades (12 days) 5 AND Battleship (56 days) of a certain race all at level 5 to use the different types of Marauder (IE, Golem takes Caldari Battleship 5, Kronos takes Gallente Battleship 5, etc)
You end up getting good bonuses (you can only use 4 guns instead of 6 but they deal double damage, extra tank, etc) but it takes double the time or more (probably a lot more) to get into a Golem compared to a Raven or Raven Navy Issue (which has 50% more shields and only slightly less firepower). It is all a toss up.
I would state that the game is still in beta so I am sure there will be added skills and synergies that may make up for what the Surya so clearly lacks. Perhaps the Surya will have a +5% resistance bonus to Armor per level of Gallente HAV whereas the Madrugar will not. "Gotta wait and see" kind of thing. The extra high slot is quite nice though. There are plenty of times where I would not have lost my Madrugar if I had a Nitrous Injector.

The small increase in stats become even bigger when boosted from the armor/shield/pg/cpu upgrade skills that give 5% per level, then there's extra damage from the marauder skill.
If you have trouble managing your PG/CPU in getting to fit the best weapon and the best modules, you get a little more wiggle room, plus one more slot to add a little extra to it.
Every skill increase that boosts your stats, every new piece of equipment, every new weapon, every drop suit. Everything is a small boost from the previous step, there is nothing that is massively improved over anything else based on the price of SP you paid to get it. |
