So, I searched and couldnt seem to find a thread like this. I'm curious as to how other heavy users fit their suits, see if there's much beyond the standard forging and machine gunning. I personally go for a Sniper rifle as my primary, I figure since snipers dont move much they dont particulary need the movement speed, which is also why I strapped on some armour plates, aswell as a repair module. On the High power slots I've put on a Shield extender and charger, with a Scrambler Pistol as a secondary. Now, I'm new to both Heavying and Sniping, but I figure any loadout that lets me take a shotgun to the back and gives me time to turn around, take out the pistol, shoot him in the face and continue sniping is a pretty decent one. |

I only use a heavy for the forge gun. I also prefer the armor over the shield type, as it allows me to stack both damage mods, and armor mods. If I ever bother to obtain the proto heavy, I would have just a little over 1000 armor if I fit it right. |

I like seeing Heavies running something other than the expected HMG or Forge Gun. AR Heavies aren't too common, but they're pretty effective in the right hands. I've seen Heavy Snipers more often in this build than AR Heavies, but still rare. I think the most common non-Heavy weapon I've seen Heavies using is the Laser. They're nasty if they can keep you at range, but they have issues with CQC. They usually have SMGs rather than Pistols, probably because of both the armour bonus of the SMG and the fact that SMGs are a reliable spray-and-pray CQC weapon to help balance the poor performance of the Laser at short range. |

Heavies are good dropship gunners since they can tank a lot of damage. A heavy sniper is interesting because it doesn't need to move a lot, however a logi or an assault is more efficient because of 3 damage mods, assuming ADV suits. If I were a heavy I would choose the A-series armor tank, stack 2 damage mods and armor repairers and use the HMG with a Scrambler Pistol and a Forge Gun if a see a tank. |

If you're comparing a Heavy Sniper to an Assault or Logi in a direct 1 vs. 1 Sniper duel though, the stacked damage mods won't make enough difference to outweigh the extra HP on the Heavy. |

I'm hesitant to stray outside heavy weapons since their support skills are 3x and I'm heavily (no pun intended) invested in them.
The one exception being a Type I suit with a swarm launcher and two light weapon complex damage mods. If red-lined it can still get off shots and handle the ever increasing attention of snipers.
Not too concerned about variety since more weapons will be released. We'll probably see allot of plasma cannons on heavy suits. |

The prob with the heavy sniper is its inability to replenish its own ammo, there are work arounds for this but it is still cumbersome. |
