My was thought was this... there are two types of single shot, high damage turrets, which are missiles and rails. However there are only one type of full auto, low damage turret. So my idea would be to add autocannons to the list.
They would be slower firing than the blasters, around 300-400 rpm, have somewhat more damage, and maybe have about the same range. Accuracy wise I think they should be about the same as blasters, maybe less accurate to balance out the higher damage.
Different variants could include a higher damage version with more heat buildup but also longer range. Another type could fire in bursts that have the same damage as the normal type but have more accuracy because it fires in bursts.
So what do you guys think? |

Lasers are going to be absolutely beautiful on a dropship... I'm so torn, I love caldari shielding but I want amarr lasers. There was a different thread where they discussed the pros and cons of lasers and how they perfectly complemented the pros and cons of dropships. DS can't fly low, lasers can't do CQC, and in fact will ONLY work from about DS height. Dropships can't stay steady, lasers just need to flash over a guy once they're heated. Need LOS for a laser, dropship flied above all their cover. The list keeps going. |

Last I heard, Caldari and Amarr were allied. You can probably get the best of both worlds.
All the turrets are modular anyway, you can already fit Caldari turrets on Gallente vehicles and vice versa, and those are two of the most bitter rivals in New Eden. |
