I'm stealing it from a guy in the IRC called Mith, so thank you for the idea :) Basically, you have the whole map open, no red line like we have right now, but there is fog of war. The bigger your suit scan radius is, the more you clear of the fog of war. Scouts will be special in that regard that they will have triple the range any other suit would get with the same scan radius. And so the map will slowly open up. |

I could see this working on a storm planet or some other environment like a huge dust storm/blizzard causing little to no visibility. Would make the scanner equipment, and scanner vehicle mod really useful for such an instance. |

I'm not sure I understand. There already is fog of war. Are you suggesting that the map be obscured? Or that there be actual fog?

Yes, map is obscured. Lore explanation would be sensor blah blah blah jamming blah blah blah. |

I guess that would be interesting, assuming it wasn't the 500th time you played on the same map. |

If something like this was implemented it should be team-based; keep within a certain distance of your teammates and your scan range is connected. Not sure if this was what you were suggesting, but the focus of DUST should stay on teamwork, even if it is 24 people running solo, to keep it away from the COD 'my team is just people I can't shoot' mentality. Such a match could have penalties to scanning meaning that those with bonuses/mods will be able to see better (and therefore their team as well), with potentially the implementation of a 'spotting' system to provide war points (though I am unsure how complicated that would be to code). Honestly I am up for just about anything that makes this game more interesting and keeps it apart from the plethora of FPSs around. |

This whole mode requires team work to even have a clue where your enemies are. I don't see why you need to even mention it. |
