Tanking has been a bit strange these last couple days, and with the recent threads regarding them I figured i'd share a couple things.
1. So I hopped in this random merc's tank thinking I'd surprise him with my usefulness manning a turret. Won't he be thrilled when he realizes I'm not spending time my shooting at the MCC or overheating the gun spraying lead all over the ground for no apparent reason what-so-ever. I even went so far as to take the front spot just in case I had overstepped a boundary and a squad mate of his on mic was tearing arse to meet up and take the top role. Anywhoo a buggy rolls up and smacks us on the kisser and kaboom! I'm dead, not the tank, just me. If this is a known thing, well to me it was not.
2. So I pull out a tank and kaboom! Then later Kaboom! Then later kaboom! Yeah that's me saying the relationship between AV and tanks has changed somewhat in the last 24 hours. [Please note number 3 in relation to this] My mojo is all twisted.
3. Twice in the last 24 hours or so I've run across a guy solo running one of those repair buggys in ambush [ you know, the expensive ones that you have to seriously spec into and look like they have a giant nano installed]. The first one disappeared after following me around for awhile. Pretty sure he exploded but I missed the fireworks. Many, many hours later I ran across another solo fellow following me around and I figured, if CCP needs testing done, then by all mean let's do it. Over the rather expletive objections of my gunner I parked across from a missile turret. I stationed myself just so, so that only one of each of the many volleys of missiles made it through. The buggy driver parked behind me, hopped out and repped the tank handheld on top of his vehicles special powers. Me I spend the time holding off anybody who would dare interfere with the live testing. Y'know newberryies and their dreaded AR Rambo charges. There was a lot of explosions, too much smoke and lot's of swearing from my gunner who said he didn't give two s***s about my mojo and it went on for a long long time.... and alas a 3 way stalemate with me in the middle. If I had turned on my own reps I'm sure I could have taken the full brunt of the turret for long enough to do whatever needed to be done in an extended period of time. In fact I never dipped below 90% of my armour even without my own reps going. Anyway, he too magically disappeared and I advanced to destroy the turret. Naturally shortly thereafter i was kaboomed by an uncoordinated assembly of militia swarm launchers that I wouldn't have even ran from the other day. [see point #2]
4. Having newfound confidence in the militia Anti-Vehicle starter fit I pulled it out and destroyed that poor fellow's tank. And that other guy's, and his over there too... etc etc
Just thought I'd share.

You post makes me wonder if CCP changed the swarm missiles just to encourage people to use the Logi LAV's in combination with tanks. |

yeah i got killed in the front turret of a tank by an LAV the other day- definitely a wtf moment.
Ya know, i saw a thread on the swarm/armor thing, and had just had a similar experience so I posted in there, but I ran tanks afterwards for hours and didnt experience another similar incidence.

This is the thing,
Most people won't get into a tank for 24 hours, simply call them OP and demand a Nerf.
The result = current situation. |

The result = current situation. Agreed. As a newbie tanker, it's pretty hard to manage your 404K ISK Madrugars and gunloggis |

Sheesh, if there's one thing that'll get me to post on the forums, it's when someone mentions using LAVs.
I'm one of those guys that runs a Logi LAV (Limbus, woo), and I love seeing allied tanks on the field. If you're going to call one in and you see me at the start of a game, shoot me a few times and get my attention. I may not get points for repairing (yet), but it's still a fun break from normal. Otherwise I'll just call in my armor tanked fit and start running people over.
Quote:In fact I never dipped below 90% of my armour even without my own reps going I will do this for you, whether you're a shield or armor tank. Teamwork is OP. |

Tanking has been odd lately for me as well; seems like my resists are broken and I melt under anything. My shields have gone under half shields from a single railgun hit which has never happened until these past couple of days D: |
