Gallente military doctrine is quite clear. Use a little speed, some armor, and a lot of guns. The Gallente Heavy is born from that doctrine. The Gallente Heavy is heavily armed, heavily armored war machine. It lacks some of the Amarr Heavy's armor, but it has a larger armament. Instead of one Heavy Weapon and one Sidearm, the Gallente Heavy has one Heavy Weapon and one Light Weapon. It is slightly faster than the Amarr Heavy but also less durable. Put plainly, the Gallente Heavy is a moving weapons platform. A slow, powerful weapons platform. Want to equip both a Forge Gun and a Laser Rifle? What about a Heavy Machine Gun and a Sniper Rifle? The Gallente Heavy is more versatile than the Amarr Heavy, but at the cost of longevity. For the skilled who can manage to keep it alive, however, the Gallente Heavy dropsuit is a very useful tool in their arsenal.
Advantages over the Amarr Heavy
- The Gallente Heavy is slightly faster and can sprint for longer.
- The Gallente Heavy can carry both a Heavy Weapon and a Light Weapon.
Disadvantages over the Amarr Heavy
- The Gallente Heavy is less durable than the Amarr Heavy.
Roles of the Gallente Heavy
- The Gallente Heavy utilizes both Heavy and Light Weapons to support his platoon in a versatile manner.

Sounds like a good idea but aren't Gallente the armour tankers? I say the adv/disadv should be switched. They can only carry one heavy weapon and are slower, but have more HP. |

So by that merit would you say that a Gallente Logi would gain a sidearm slot then? Perhaps at the cost of speed? |

In EVE, the Gallente favor armor over shields and blasters over railguns. Blasters do more damage but at much shorter range. As such, their "blaster boats" need speed to close quickly with their targets.
I imagine that the Gallente heavy (probably already in the item database) will be armor tanked but less so than the Amarr. It may be faster faster than the Amarr and Caldari ones (and slower than the Minnie one).
It might also have a damage bonus to some kind of weapon (plasma cannon?) that eats Forge Guns for breakfast at short range. |

Also, typically Gallente ships are more in favor of armor repping. So while they may have less armor, they have bonuses to armor repping. Giving it the ability to return to the fight faster, while Amarr armor tanks are normally focused on very large buffers and slow. |

Gellente are armor tankers but actively compared to passively like the amarr.
Therefore i would expect substantially reduced hp to the amarr heavy, but with a very fast recharge rate.
Weapon wise a heavy + light would be crazy overpowered. The difference should be a bonus into the racial weapons of a suit (HMG bonus to Minmatar Heavy) |

Because you would be too good at too many things. Long range laserrifle, swap to HMG. OR AR with forgeguns. You can effectively counter each weapons weakness with another weapon. Also the fitting requirements would be too open.
Also you dont get a double light weapon suit. |
