Maybe I'm hallucinating but the past week I began to realize the fact that my armor was going down just as fast as my shields vs. certain weaponry.
Now I know there are a lot of threads already regarding [Insert weapon here] vs. damage mods but going up against weapons like the laser rifle and AR, I feel as though my armor should be giving me more protection.
For a fact, I know that the AR does 90% damage to armor and 110% to shields while the laser rifle does 120% to shields and 80% to armor. I know there are other weapons that do more damage to shields than armor but my main point is this:
Up the usefulness of armor.
Laser rifles should NEVER be doing insane amount of damage to armor regardless of ramp-up damage modifier.
Oh, and modules need to be looked at again.
1 MLT (or is it basic as well?) shield extender provides ....22? 33? shields? while the complex gives 66 shields.
Armor on the other hand, a basic armor plate gives 65 HP with a 3% movement penalty while a complex armor module gives 130 HP at 10% movement penalty.
Now look at this: 1 complex shield module is 2x (or 3x?) more effective than its basic counterpart. 2 basic armor plates gives 130HP at 6% speed penalty while 1 complex gives only 115HP and 10% movement penalty.
On top of module inbalance, shields can regen themselves at a fairly decent rate while armor can not.
As a final note, I am fully aware of the perks of both using shields and armor but still, armor needs a bit more lovin'.
Oh and I appreciate anyone who took the time to look at this thoroughly and provided feedback. |

I thought the main advantage of armor is that you can add 115 HP to it for 30/12 CPU/PG, whereas it takes 54/12 CPU PG and a high slot to gain just 66 shield HP.

I just thought that putting armour in the game was a way for CCP to appeal to masochist. |

Well yes, you save up on CPU/PG but think of this. Shields can regen while armor cannot without certain modules or a proper nanohive or a squaddie with a repper. On top of this, there is a movement penalty that is quite steep at the complex level.
Despite the fact that most of the current weapons do more damage to shields, the damage percentage is....whats the word....not even worth considering?
Oh and the fact explosives (like locus grenades and MD's) do major damage to armor and not a lot to shields. |

Shields don't keep recharging, lasers have build up heat, and armor ALWAYS recharges (completely passive); furthermore, armor takes up less PG and CPU.

5-1-4 Didn't understand what you were trying to say, btw.
On a more related note, I do think shields are in fact more powerful than armor, but as of now the only armor-based unit we have (that is to say, a Gallente racial suit) is dedicated to being light and un-armored. Whereas our main suit that is in use (that is to say, a Caldari assault) is shield based and therefore does well with equipped extenders. |

@ Sandromin: Shields give you more HP back in a small amount of time than what armor reppers can do. Also, lasers are extremely lethal when the magazine is about to be finished assuming you have been holding down the trigger for quite some time. |

And damage mods dude. Go logibro B-series, 3 damage mods, 2 armor plates and armor repairer or 3 armor plates and a triage nanohive. I thought LR did more damage on shields and less on armor that the numbers you mentioned. 120% shields is too low for insta pulverization of shields. |

Yeah I don't know the exact numbers for the laser rifle. On a side note, I've been trying to make a 3 damage mod and 2 complex armor and 2 complex armor rep suit with a dulovile but I feel like I'm going to run out of CPU space on my proto assault if I did that...... |
