So ive done everything people tell me about the bug problem. From restarting the system, turning ptt off and voice chat on, and blah blah. But my mic doesn't let me hear or speak to other players even when my voice is activated on squad. That mic Icon on the far right is always there. What is going on? |

I don't know if this is something you've been told before, but check the settings under:
PS3 menu -> Settings -> Accessory Settings -> Audio Device Settings
Make sure you've got the right thing set as the Input and Output. You should see the meter go when you talk into the microphone, and hear yourself echoed back at you through the headset. (This is also where you can set the chat audio to come through your TV or whatever the normal game sound goes to. Put the Output Device setting to "System Default Device" to do it. It's not nearly as good as having your mike actually work, but at least you'd be able to hear your squadmates talk.)
If you do have this stuff set up and working right, and it's still not working in Dust, I'm afraid I don't know what to tell you. Maybe send an email to [email protected]
Good luck, bud. |

Being unable to *hear* voice chat, I think, makes this issue different from most of the other mic issues.
Can you enable voice chat and hear players talk without a mic plugged in?
Do you have PS Eye plugged in? |

Make sure you've got the right thing set as the Input and Output................. You have to check this every time you start the PS3? I just started keeping an eye on this one so I'm not sure yet. |

I don't know the answer to my question yet. However, if you set your audio output device different from your mic device it seems more stable.
Mic is Skullcandy headset and it uses USB connection. |

I can't hear what people say and they can't hear me. *Voice is enabled *Push to talk is off *I have checked if my headset works by going into Audio Devices (PS menu) and by testing the Voice Changer and had my voice come out of my TV by switching the Input Device to my mic and TV as Output Device *Mic icon is on my screen *The talking icon does not appear for other people
I have been able to use my headset with my computer at another house (different TV, internet, country etc.) but it's not working now.
Any solutions? |

Oh, my, no. No, you shouldn't have to check it much at all, unless you want to change something set there (level or input or output device) or maybe if you've plugged in or unplugged a wired headset, or turned on or off a bluetooth headset.

Here's a thought - maybe your network is the problem... Some folks need to explicitly tell their router to allow traffic across certain ports in order for all of the traffic to get through. Some even need to "DMZ" their PS3.
There's a thread around here somewhere that addresses this. I'll go dig it up and then edit this, after lunch :D |
