Current
Shield Control (3x) - +5% to dropsuit and vehicle maximum shield. Field Mechanics(1x) - same bonus but to armor
I feel like training into armor is more favored than training into shields currently. Training multiplier on Shield Control should either be brought down to compare with Field Mechanics or Field Mechanics should have its training multiplier increased to compare with Shield Control. |

Yeah, but shields are all around better for infantry. ALWAYS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Seriously.
I say NO until they are comparable to shields in terms of performance. |

I see where you're coming from but as I'm a Gunnlogi driver, it's harder to skill into shield HAVs as opposed to armor HAVs.
Perhaps split the skills into Infantry and Vehicle Shield Operation and Field Mechanics? This way infantry shields/armor will remain the way they are and vehicle armor/shield training will be more balanced. |

Shields recharge automatically, hence the higher price. |

The steep pre-req and 3x may be on the high side but at least it cuts back on abuses. The current layout is in part from past lessons and old feedback.
I certainly wouldn't have minded at least seeing it as a 2x skill instead. |

Automatic recharge, and increasing the shield hp increase the speed of recharge. |

Unfortunately no. Dust 514 shield recharge has a set rate as opposed to EVE where it has a set recharge time. |

I feel like training into armor is more favored than training into shields currently. Training multiplier on Shield Control should either be brought down to compare with Field Mechanics or Field Mechanics should have its training multiplier increased to compare with Shield Control.
Possible Alternative
Split Shield Control and Field Mechanics into Dropsuit Shield Control, Dropsuit Field Mechanics, Vehicle Shield Control, and Vehicle Field Mechanics. This way dropsuit shields/armor remain the way they are while vehicle shield/armor are more balanced with equal training multipliers.
Hmmm, why would they need to be the same ? And if we follow your logic, then why does shield control require a LVL 4 skill before being available when field mechanics is available directly ?
The answer is : armor is the first type of defense for everybody through T1 grade suits. Shield is more fency and shield control is good as it is. And FYI, it was a X5 in a previous build. |

Shield Extenders do not have mobility limitations. It has a higher cost because currently shield tanking has an advantage. The extra HP from armor plates may be more but if you're not able to retreat that sucker back when all else fails, it might as well be considered gone. |
