I'm sure there's multiple threads already. I don't feel like searching.
Surely this can't be that difficult of a fix. I know I'm not the only one who feels the same way. As one of my corp's directors said today, the omega boosters didn't work correctly, you took them out of the game.
Damage mods don't work correctly. Why don't you just take them out of the game? Then maybe some good old fashioned gun game might surface instead of whoever shoots first wins.
Instead of triple or quad modified ARs and Lasers.
There's no point in skilling into shield upgrades or nice shield regulators or even armor - 'cause if someone gets the drop on your or god forbid spawns behind you- D E D. |

Everyone can and should melt under sustained fire. The tradeoff between having a better tank for your fit, or having more damage mods only matters when people are exchanging fire from cover. The extra complex shield extender might only save you from two additional rounds of an assault rifle, but that can be the difference between making it back under cover or dying.
I personally do much better using shield extenders than I do using damage mods. Maybe one v one shootouts might put me at a disadvantage, but in the squad combat that normally occurs I would much rather have survivability. Even if you have a gun that can nearly instantly vaporize the person down your sights, that won't save you from their friend if you have no tank. |

They seem to work just fine. What do you mean they don't work correctly?
They are a Skill based item, with Militia variant available for ISK. Weaponry to lvl 5 give +10% on any hand held weapon and damage mods add as stated. Except for the existing Bug where the Stacking Penalty is not being factored in. Once the stacking penalties are factored in the number of modules used at a time should drop. Of course, CCP might introduce a +20% version at that time.
Additionally if your enemy is using Prototype weapons they are already adding additional damage for each Skill level. All these various bumps add up and blaming one method of using one module does not make a good case for their complete removal. That would require refunds on a massive scale and I don't see that happening just to make you less grumpy.
Are you playing Ambush (aka Death Match) or Skirmish? Ambush is tough and it is easy to get Spawned in a bad spot. Or for your uplink to get spawn camped in particular when the maps are so small.
There is no need to remove anything from the game because you cannot handle it, Kitten. The rest of us can and do.

Concur with the above. That's not what my problem is though, there is no "sustain" required, that's the problem. You can triple stack damage mods and get a 33% increase in damage. The stacking penalty is broken.
Your statement and tactics are valid.
The damage mods should still be fixed to function as stated.

TL;DR
I'm a douche and I love my damage mods, think I'll be a troll.
Thanks for explaining skill bonuses and what proto gear does. I'm new here.
Like you said in the third line of your novel, THERE IS A BUG. I'd like it fixed. |

They have confirmed a display bug in the fittings screen, nothing more.
I'm gonna laugh heartily when they explain that damage mods are working fine in game (stacking penalties and all) but are just not calculated right on the fittings screen.
Also, the record, even without stacking penalties, it's almost always better to take shield extenders than damage mods. |

This I also concur with. I typically play a heavy and use shield extenders or a plate or a mix depending on the situation. Although of late I have been playing more with my assault.
I would like to know though if the damage mods multiply your base damage and add to other bonuses, such as weaponry/proficiency etc, or it they multiply all skills combined. |

They should all be multiplicative. So, as an example, say you have weaponry 5, 2 complex damage mods, and the weapon proficiency of your weapon to 2, your damage modifier should look something like :
1.1*1.1*1.1*1.06=1.41086
That's assuming no stacking penalties. With stacking penalties, it should be :
1.1*1.1*(.1*.869+1)*1.06=1.394058
Note : As you can see, if stacking penalties are working in game, it would be difficult in most cases to know. |

The devs could just remove the damage mods/skills for hand held weapons period. Instead just increase the damage for the guns instead so you don't have to shoot someone till the cows come home, and leave in the other mods/skills like increasing a gun's effective range/kick/grouping/etc. Quite a few FPS used to have some sort of damage increase skill/mod in their games. CoD got rid of Stopping Power, BF got rid of Magnum, both games were the better for it. Allowing players to boost the damage output of their guns just seems to create a vicious circle where these problems occur and perpetuate.
About the sustained fire comment, I agree. However, if you get rounds into someone first, and they can then win the firefight by virtue of stats rather than skill, that's a problem. |

It's been confirmed that the only bug associated with damage mods is the display not showing the stacking penalty. The actual benefit is still assessed a stacking penalty for 2 or more damage mods.
A search of the forums would have revealed as much. |

Just a question, if someone put enough SP to unlock complex damage mods, shouldn't they get a substantial bonus. Especially if they're giving p shields for it. I'm using enhanced DM and I haven't noticed anything substantial. |
