Lets say you are in a map were you have 3 Null Cannons to hack. Now lets say your team hacks 2 Cannons and the other team hacks the 3rd. You know you can win by deplenting the MCC because you have 2 of the 3 under control. Your team sticks to a defensive style because the other team has everybody at thier cannon so if you try to take it you end up just depleting your clone reserves and they win because you have 0 clones left. The match ends and your K/D ratio is low and WP is low because you spent your time defending instead of taken objectives and you only killed enemy's when they tried to take your cannons.
A solution to this could be that you define an certain area around the cannon and as long as you are within said area defending the cannon you gain WP every couple of seconds. This would reward mercs for strategically defending thier cannons in addition to the current system that rewards mercs for actively going out and hacking opposing enemy resources. |

I agree that something needs to be added to create some kind of incentive to defend points but I think this would just make skirmish into an even slower war-of-attrition grind than it already is. |

I personally don't think this will work. This will just encourage afk farming in the radius. There could be a bonus far killing an "attacker". |

Agree with above, we should have a Bonus for kill an attacker withing 150 Meters of a Pbjective or killing a foe who was hacking an objective within 5 secs of death |

Squad Leaders can already put a defend order on a Letter and anyone killing nearby gain the bonus war-points.
I agree with the thread author that there should be a new order type to cover defensive actions on positions. War Points should depict the merits of various battlefield actions. Meeko already nailed the idea although mine is a little different, mainly much closer than 150 meters.
Order Type: Hold (Null Cannons: would not work on other structures) Radius: Just far enough out to cover mid-close combat WP Gain: +X War Points for Killing Red-Dots INSIDE the radius. +X War Points for dying inside the radius. Purpose: Reward players who risk spawning back into hot areas. Discourage people from just running off looking for kills, they should be playing Ambush. Discourage people from spawning all the way in the back and then slowly work their way to the front even though that is safer on KDR.
Not really sure what +X would be since it would need balance against Defend Orders on people and how that plays out for Kills and Logi rewards. It would be nice if all the order types were leveled out so that people would being using Capture when attacking, Defend while moving, and in theory a Hold while defending a Null Cannon. |

Anything done that generates WP withing range of the Squad Orders gain 20% bonus.

I would do it differently.
1. remove some of/halve the WP gained on hacking a NULL cannon 2. Give hacker 10 WP for every missile/shot, that hits opposing MCC 3. Giver hacker's squad 5 WP for every missile/shot, that hits opposing MCC 4. (optional) deduct 20 WP from squad if NULL cannon is successfully hacked by opposing team
This way, incentive is not just on hacking, but also on defending and counter-hacking. |

if you want to incentivise counter hacking give them points for killing a hack, simple as that. |

I like this idea. I just think there needs be something in place. Defending is just as important as attacking. Yes I did see some ppl post that they already have a defend command for that but i think there should be a hold command like Rusty mentions in this thread and have it give you like 10 WP or something like that every 10 secs or something. If you are defending and your squad leader puts the defend command in action but nobody shows up to counter hack it your still not getting points. At least with this your getting passive points every once and a while. |
