Fellow 'beta testers' fill me in if I have missed some kind of secret or poorly implemented mechanic by which dust players are able to choose which side they would like to participate in during this In game event.
What's the point CCP? Why spend anytime at all developing and promoting backstory, lore and inspiring player interaction when there appears to be NOTHING different in these mercenary battles on Caldari prime than every other random match we have ever played?
The story is cool. The hype is cool. The player excitement is cool. Then you just log into an instant merc battle and get randomly plunked down on on of the two sides...instant battle. For what? Can we choose sides? Can we see progress?
I don't get it. Your not testing anything you haven't tested for the past 8 months.
So much of the same hype, promise, Soon, crap. Thanks. Again. |

it's the role playing aspect of the game. You use your imagination or something, I don't know.
Personally I'm not too involved with the RPG side of it. I would like to, but I can't even chose what side to play as, so yeeeaah. |

Oh wait wait! Maybe you had no idea two days ago you were going to do anything at all this weekend and tis is your test and deployment of rapid live in game event roll out with prizes (suits), backstory (blogs) and cross game interaction (in game eve posting). Is that it? I want to give you the benefit of the doubt here CCP. Don't leave us hanging. Please. Explain what is going on with this and why it is anything other than a neat idea minus any in game options for player choice in a SANDBOX game. |

Ok, I am down with that!its an idea of what we can do! Something at least besides just posting in character stuff on the forums ( I tried that too).
Wait, how do I team kill w/ no friendly fire?

CCP Nullarbor wrote: Alongside planetary conquest comes a new starmap where we will be displaying the war zone for faction warfare and the impact DUST 514 is having. We will also be removing the pre-negotiated contracts and instead opening up faction warfare mercenary battles to all players. The battles will automatically start based on demand and then players can join whichever side they like from the battle finder or directly from the map.

But not this weekend. Not this event. So, that is why I ask, what's the point? Oh wait wait, CCP, you just want to practice live eventing? Or, (don't you even say this is the reason), you just wanted to do ' something for the players'?
Sometimes when you are bored as hell of a beta that has gone on over a year with really slow development roll outs and delays (yes blewbs, this is very much delayed) you might believe that anything would be better than nothing
Then they give you an in game event that has no means of interaction or participation beyond your imagination

Locking this thread down as there isn't much to it that can bring the game forward is it?
Just to not leave you in the dark, Events between DUST and EVE are only at a starting point for now but rest assured things will only get getter better in the future. |
