Instancing A district uses two servers: a Battle Server and an Automation Server. The former is only active while there are mercenaries in the district, and memory allocation changes based on how many mercenaries there are. The latter is active whenever passive processes are occurring within the district.
Slots Each district has a set number of slots. These slots have a few factors that determine what they are used for. Environment - These include Land, Coastal and Oceanic, among others.
Size - Small, Medium and Large.
Mineral Content - Mineral content determines what can be extracted from the district.
Each structure have parameters about where it can be placed. Structures cannot be placed in an environment that they are not suited for. Land slots can only fit land structures, coastal slots can fit both land and oceanic structures, and sea slots can only fit oceanic structures. Structures can fit in slots larger than them, but not in slots smaller than them.
Construction Each slot has a conduit that connects to the district resource lines, providing Powergrid and CPU. The conduit is where you begin construction. To begin from scratch, you must create a construction platform. This must be built separately, inside a manufacturing plant. After you manufacture a platform, you must install it into the conduit. Small platforms can be transported using a standard RDV drone, but medium platforms require a larger Construction Ferry Vehicle (CFV) to place. Large platforms require multiple CFVs to place. After installing the platform into the conduit, you must place materials into the platform. Once enough materials are placed inside the platform, construction begins. Small structures finish construction after 30 minutes or during downtime. Medium structures finish during the first downtime. Large structures require two downtimes to finish construction.
Operation At the center of the whole operation is the Command Center, specifically the District Command Center. The DCC is the core of the district, and without it you do not control the district. It provides the crucial CPU and Powergrid to fuel the district. The owner of the DCC is also the owner of all other intergrated structures in the district.
Fueling the District DCCs require fuel to operate. This fuel comes in the form of fuel blocks. In return, the DCC provides the district with CPU and Powergrid. Small structures use a similar amount of CPU compared to larger structures, but use much less Powergrid. The DCC is generally capable of providing enough CPU, but powering large structures is more challenging. To increase the Powergrid available, you must install Auxiliary Power Plants. These Power Plants greatly increase the amount of Powergrid at your disposal, but require additional fuel and maintenance as well as CPU. To increase the CPU available, you must expand the DCC. These expansions cause the DCC to consume more liquid ozone. |
