I know it's not a big issue or anything but I figured I'd bring it up. The main problems with the current stat system is that it doesn't accurately represent how effective a support role is in battle (which has been brought up), but it is also misleading in how effective players are in getting kills in battle.
For example, let's say you have two players who just finished a match. One player ended with 12/4 K/D, the other with 5/1. Based purely on kills, who would you say helped the team more? While the player who went 12/4 helped to kill 8 more clones in the battle than he lost, the player who went 5/1 only helped in killing 4 more (the player who went 12/4 was therefore twice as effective); yet the player who went 5/1 would be evaluated as performing better with a K/D of 5 compared to the other player's K/D of 3.
I propose the following following alterations and additions to our current stats:
Total Games Played
Total Kills: Should only be counted when a player actually bleeds out. Every time a player is downed, you'll only get 25 points, but you get the other 25 when the kill is confirmed.
Total Deaths: I think a death should only be counted upon bleeding out. If you are revived, you're not costing your team a clone and thus shouldn't be reflected negatively.
Total LAVs Destroyed
Total HAVs Destroyed
Total Gunships Destroyed
Total installations Hacked
Average K-D spread: Calculated by (Total Kills - Total Deaths)/Games Played. Basically, this stat takes the average difference between kills and deaths per game played.
Average WP per game: Calculated by Total WP/ Games Played. Pretty straightforward. The accuracy of this stat would be reduced by a lot of factors though (Squad leaders getting extra WP via orders, Orbital Strikes, lack of balancing for WP rewards, etc.)
Average Deaths per game: Total Deaths/Games Played.
Each of these stats would be separated by match type (ie, k-d spread for assault, Skirmish, and assault oms). Personally I find it difficult to accurately represent support abilities via stats. Maybe the community can come up with some ideas? Maybe stats dealing with reps or rezs could work if implemented properly.
Anyway, it might be cool to have certain achievements (or maybe even unique abilities) tied in to certain stat milestones. |

Logi Bro wrote:The only stats that I feel must absolutely 100% be added into the game are: WP/D ratio and an ISK Destroyed/ISK Lost ratio. Though I am 99% sure CCP has said they will add much of what you proposed, I don't think it's their main priority of the moment
A stat based on isk destroyed and lost is a pretty interesting concept, that could definitely be useful to gauge. The only thing about WP/D ratio though is that you run into the same problem as K/D ratio. For example, someone who gets 1k WP in a match but dies 2x would be considered just as effective as someone who dies once but get 500 wp in the match. Maybe there's a way to do a WP-D spread like Kills-D spread? Hmm, maybe something like (Total WP/50 - Deaths)/Total Games played. Of course, that's assuming that WP accurately displays contributions in the battlefield and that the scoring values and parameters are accurate (which I don't think they are at the moment). The main question after all is: how many WP does a death in this game nullify?
Anyway I agree, there are more pressing matters to attend to. To be honest, I personally don't care for stats all that much while playing or anything, I just wanna shoot stuff XD. But I feel like if stats are going to be implemented, they should be implemented properly. |
