Hi all,
I hope that devs will apologize me to bring this subject in General Discussion. But I think that a lots of people here do not read the dev blog thread. Thoose who want to know more, it's this way : https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=63760&find=unread
Well, I think that the all system is about this single point : allow or not ringers in PC.
What is ringers ? --> It's gamers from corp C taking part in a fight between corp A and corp B (they fight with A or B of course)
We can see this as an alliance/mercenaries mechanic. But in my personnal mind, it is a way to exploit the system whatever the technical numbers that devs will choose. It will always promote best, biggest, and richest corps. And with 250 districts on 1 region to begin, it's a no way for non-vets corps.
Mercenaries ? We can't reward them as an employer. They only will be reward with clones killed in batlle * Biomass value (in winning cases) + loots. Alliance ? We can form them already in EVE, but we won't be able to do so in DUST before a while. So for me, this is a dev's message, they want the PC's start as corps, and corps only.
Conclusion : let corps work as corps for days/weeks/months to begin, THEN put a mechanic for alliances in DUST or open the ringer system later.
If ringer system is up at PC's release, I think that it will kill the pleasure and the discovery of the new feature for "non competitive" corps, and it will be a LOTS of work for
What are your thoughts on this ?

I dont understand. The biggest, richest, and most competitive people almost always win..... the ringer system would be to inject those of a higher skill tier into your battles so you can compete. |

Having the biggest and richest corp has always been the aim for all corps. You make it sound as if that's a bad thing in the context of New Eden. New Eden has always operated in this mentality for 10 years. Besides, adding a third corp into the battle seems like something CCP may have plans for in the future anyways. Even then it won't change the fact that the biggest and richest corp will always pay the third party to fight for them. |

We are mercs
I think it is perfectly fine
The only thing that is annoying is payment, sure you will get some of the loot and some ISK if you win but what happens if you drop 10mil worth of gear into the match and the ISK/loot doesnt make it up
I mean we as mercs can make agreements for just say 10mil for the match and 5mil bonus if you win but then the problem is what if the corp doesnt pay?
Because we dont have contracts that is the main problem mercs are facing |

don't forget that if you bring some "super-ringer" into your match, they could stab you in the back and team kill you. there's no way to get them out of the match once they are in. and they can disrupt your side enough for you to lose.
there is a real risk to using ringers. you have to account for that. |
