CCP is at a bad point right now. On one hand, people are getting bored of what we've had for months, the game modes and constant bugs/issues are frustrating everyone, and many of the players from older builds are leaving.
On the other hand, if they release an update soon, they're in trouble because people expect a hell of a lot of improvement for the time that has passed, and there's always bugs, glitches, etc to worry about.
Then, if they wait a bit, it's the best option (maybe) but they'll lose a bunch of their player base to other games and after a while, people start deleting the game, which is a major problem.
So. What should they do? We'll (hopefully earlier) find out on or before Fanfest. Which, (in my opinion) is pushing it a bit ( a lot?).
In all honesty, CCP, just bring back Crater lake and Skirmish 1.0, and it should hold us off for a month. New game modes are needed, weapons/variations are nice, but a completely new Game Mode is needed soon. Not Soon TM, Soon. |

Don't rush CCP. The thing about this game is you will keep coming back to it. It's not like CoD or BF, where if you walk away from it you might never play it again. CCP does... something.. to their games to make it sure as hell addictive. I caught myself considering renewing my sub for EVE Online earlier today. Damn you, CCP.
I wouldn't worry too much if a few people left right now. They'll come back for new content, or even at release. How do I know? Playing EVE on and off for six years now. |

Did they confirm that they will implement new features, modes etc after the fanfest? Or just announce new stuff that will come later this year?

I think that if they could tell us anything they would but they're contractually obligated to not say a word and if they could release an update to appease the masses they would do it in a heartbeat but they can't because they probably ran into different problems but again they can't tell us. Is a vicious circle I know. |

CCP is smart, they know what they're doing. All the people complaining that they are bored with the game right now are the people who played it the most, the biggest fans of the bunch. They may sound mad now, but whether they release the next update next month or next 3 months they will be back. They are right to take their time and do it right. |

EVE players =/= FPS players, you may retain the EVE fans but at the end of the day its still driven by an FPS crowd. They will move on and if they get hooked into something else cough cough Defiance(more likely Destiny) they're never coming back. |

QFT.. This is the most laughable broken mechanic in the game. It will forever cloud the weapon balance issue. Until it's fixed there is no way to TRULY balance weapons.
Edit--These are hotfixes so i can see how they may hesitate since every hotfix ive seen in the last few months has an unintended and often worse consequences.
That said content updates require PSN update to the store and also likely have to go through Sony QA which TBF can be quite time consuming and burdensome and for all we know the FW/PC update is already in Sony's hands (I doubt it but ill play a lil devil's advocate). |

I'm not just an EVE player, I, oddly enough, do play FPS's too. Played MW2 ages back, heavy TF2 player, also played CS:GO in the beta. I do understand the need for regular content updates, but when you get bored of DUST... Leave, and wait a few months. You'll see. You'll have caught the bug. |

I appreciate the perspective, Icy. And I agree that this is a very difficult but crucial month for Dust. But I must disagree with one of the above posters who urged CCP not to rush.
They damn well better rush. And they'd better get it right. A single at this point in the game is not going to cut it. They may not be in a must hit home run position but it's a double or triple necessary for sure.
I would also like to make an observation and see if anyone else agrees or has noticed.
When the open beta felt newer and player participation was on the rise I would almost always start instant battles in the war barge. But over the past several days I start more and more instant battles in games already underway.
I would suggest that, as player population and participation declines, the matchmaking system may be opting to start more and more new players in games already started.
I believe this is an indication of fewer players online than was previously the case. The tide is ebbing, the wait has taken its toll
We have pleaded with the devs for information and feedback and the recent blog isn't enough to stem the tide.
This is a very important time for DUST. Patience is no longer the watchword for CCP. Get it done, get it done right and get it done quick. |

At the moment Dust 514 is starting to feel, like one of that empty boxes i used to play with when i was kid.
Whit imagination you can pretend, that you flying a spaceship across far, far away Galaxy's. But at the end of the day, you realize that is only an empty box, and is only so much you can do with it.
So... yes, lets fill up that empty box with cool toys, should we ?
In a different note ;
Why CCP will want to appeal only to EvE fans ? Every one is going to stop playing EvE, and play Dust 514 instead ? |

There are two ways to do this. To rush the job, and come out with a game which feels like it's half-completed, like many EA and Activision games out there (can't name any off the top of my head), about which a lot of players have complained and given the game bad reviews, like Skyrim. Yes, different genre, but the principle stands.
On the other hand, CCP can take their time about it and released a finished, quality product. For an analogy, let's do food. I'd much rather a restaurant cook my food thoroughly, and make a good meal out of it, rather than I go home because I'm stuck for time and I end up with food poisoning.
If a game feels unfinished, as it is likely to do with any rush job, regardless of genre, production company, or fanbase, you'll feel like you've wasted your time playing it. As it is now, you can go away and play CoD, BF, MoH, whatever, until the next content update. I'd much rather play a fully balanced, bug-free game, with full content and wait for it for a few more months, than get it now and have another CoD clone.
In the end, your last line, "Get it done, get it done right and get it done quick." isn't going to happen. Quick and right do not go in the same sentence together. It's a fact of life. |

This would be a good idea. I know there were concerns about it's load and frame rate and stuff, but at least it's something different to tide people over. |

A comparable game dev would be GSC and look how long stalker 1 took.
Zipper interactive had 80 for mag and socom 4 Sorry, 70 is not "super small". I've seen much better games created by smaller groups. |

A lot of this thread has boiled down to two simple options for CCP. Wait and lose players or rush it and have a worse product. There's a way to have both though, to take the time to create a polished product and appease the masses. It's called communication.
CCP needs to stop being so secretive about everything and stop being so vague about what they do share. I'm one of the burnt out players, but if I knew they were planning on releasing a build next month then I wouldn't feel like I'm sort of wasting my time. Also things like hotfixes, let us now in advance with full details of what's included.
Basically, if they kept us in the loop and let us know what was going on behind the scenes, I think most players would be more understanding of where Dust is right now and where it's going. I know they do the occasional dev blog and the weekly feedback thread, but those might as well be a single sentence that just says "something might come eventually". |

Thats a joke. Keep telling yourself that, there are plenty of people who leave DUST and never come back without a second thought I know personally. I check out DUST every patch and once or twice a month if I muster up the will to be frusturated by boredom and stupidity, but only out of hope its somehow progressed, not addiction. |

It's only been a few months. I've gone a year without thinking about EVE, then had a sudden urge to play it again. Actually, in 2005/06, I played a two week free trial, but couldn't afford to subscribe. Then, a few years later, remembering this space game I'd played, decided to go back to it. Been hooked ever since. |

I'm not hooked.
I just want this game to hook me, but it won't because its in a bad place. I have been kind of clouding my vision for months now but the BS is done. I call the shots as I see them, and this development style by CCP is bad. No info, slow releases, and minimal content. Yeah... Addicting... -_-

May I take the opportunity to remind people that stuff from the very first or second dev blogs has still not been integrated into the game, and probably won't be for another year. Capacitators, stealth drop ships, etc. Fighters as well. |

CCP will not listen to the whiny masses demanding a game be made on their schedule. This game is a prototype, never been done before. Don't like it? Go away. You think you'll tank the game by leaving? You think after people have waited this long they are just going to go and cowadoody it up and forget Dust exists? Maybe... but then... who cares?
I'm no fanboi, but I do know that when your creating something new, without much of a mould to use, it takes time. Have any of you (whiners) stopped to consider what they have to deal with? The eve players know what I'm talking about, because they know what New Eden is.
Get over yourself, stop whining, stop threatening. Its boring and no one cares. |
