"Dust is a game where things don't just spawn out of no where" this isn't necessarily true where do all the items from the market come from? Where does the ammo in our guns and vehicles come from? I think one way to add another layer of realism to Dust and keep the game complicated and diverse is to make it so mercenaries have to buy their own ammo. Ammo would get it's own section on the market and would range from militia, low grade, to high grade. Skills for ammo would be met with weapon skills so for example. Skilling into assault rifle operation would unlock assault rifle ammo the higher you skilled into assault rifle operation the better ammo you would unlock a long with prototype weapons. This would give players a extra boost for their weapons if they were willing to pay the extra price for ammo. Very standard ammo would be supplied to all weapons for free like the free suits and LAVs we are given.
Ammo types could range from small to large for turret ammo sizes as there are only two turret sizes. However the meta for each ammo type could range quite significantly. As a way to not run completely out of ammo in game nanohives and supply depos would return the ammo type used by your suit/gun in any game. This means when you run out of your high grade ammo in a game nanohives would not return standard ammo and you would not have to repay for more high grade ammo this would be applied per suit.
If the dust system of ammo was used in eve you would see players equipping guns and going out and shooting, this as you can see makes absolutely no sense. In real life and in EVE, guns require ammo the same should be said for Dust I like challenging Dust players. Watching the new players equip their standard free ammo and the more advanced players equip their high damage ammo would be nice to watch. |

The ammo you get comes with your gun, its like a bundle (buy gun, get basic ammo free). If you had to buy the regular basic ammo separate from your gun, then that would be pointlessly tedious.
Additional ammo types are coming. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=483244#post483244 "[SUGGESTION] Ammo types treated as weapon customization modules Update: The design team will discuss ways of implementing this."
Ammo is replenished in seconds by manufacturing nanites (the kinds that nanohives use), so ammo you carry in your fitting should automatically replenish after the battle (if the fitting wasn't destroyed). This is how I think it should work for ammo types as well; buy them in a pack, and that pack replenishes itself after the battle if it wasn't destroyed in battle. |

Very good post but who even manufactures all the items they have to be manufactured distributed then taken, used, retaken, destroyed, repaired so on so on. As far as I can see it they are just made from thin air for example some one had to have made those nano hives I guess the factions made them but I think quite a bit of it is just imaginative and we are told it has happened. There is no actual system to create it though it's just left up to our minds. |

So if i had to classify reg ammo Eve style, the current Ar and sniper rifle are shootong iron while they get most out of antimatter (short range) and tungsten (long range) respectively |

Right now NPC corps do the manufacturing (Boundless, Creodron, Carthum, gazillion others). EVE players can manufacture items, so maybe one day Dust players will too; I know at least one day we will be able to buy from and trade with EVE players, but right now they're keeping the economies segregated until they're ready to be merged. |

Correct. Considering that we will be able to manufacture our own Clones according to the Dev blog. Why wouldn't DUST Corps be able to provide some of our own materiel? In particular when we control portions or entire planets.
I have EVE friends that are waiting for the Blue Prints* to manufacture Everything for DUST. So at the very least we will have EVE Corps that DUST Corps are associated with be able to supply us with, hopefully, everything we need.
* Blue Print means something slightly different in EVE. They use them to create goods. There are additional differences that an actual EVE player could explain much better than I. |

As KAAGEHOSHI said they're currently being manufactured by NPC corps. As everyone keeps forgetting This a BETA. The market is in somewhat of Placeholder state. The true market will resemble EVE, completely player driven. Everything you use will have been made and shipped by real players, and you (another real person) will be buying it from them with money you probably earned from another player (via a contract). One of the most anticipated features is the player market. With everyone ready to crash the server with the immediate exchange of all the items they earn from salvage in Dust. But this something that has to be done right as soon as it comes out. A screw up on the Dust side can throw things out of whack for the EVE-Dust connection. |

Right now I just picture it as you buying a bundle of ammo and weapons for one price, that or the armory has nanohives running in it.
I'm looking forward to having more ammo types in the future though. Imagine an HMG with emp rounds. They already exist in eve, so i'd expect to be able to have a similar option in Dust. |
