What software do you guys use to capture gameplay of Dust 514? It turns out I got a Dazzle, just need a few more things and I can make cool videos of my own. So, what software do ya'll use to create your vidoes? Got any free options? Advice? |

I personally use hardware to capture my vis, Elgato game capture HD.

I use the Haupauge HD PVR 2 box - connects into the PC and has a nice green butthan to press when i want to capture stuff.
TBH don't just think its all about capturing the footage, as YOU TOOBE is awash with unedited 'CORP A vs. CORP B' videos that frankly suck the soul from those who watch
Get a copy of either Sony Vegas (cheapish) or Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects (spensive but available if you look around) and make some interesting content for your audience - Graphics, intro and outro cards etc and its all together a more enjoyable watch.
If you are going to do commentary, do not use a jack mic or even a USB mic (headset) try and use a component mic as the audio is all together much clearer - using proper tools such as Adobe Audition you can then edit all the 'PPFFSS' and background noise out so it becomes a very clear voice over your footage.
Hmm what else?
Have a brand? try to make something that is interesting and has a theme, so perhaps make some videos that show something particular

search for openbroadcaster its free and great software if you want to live stream those vid caps. another good one is adobe flash media live encoder which is also free.With openB you can stream and save a local copy at the same time if you want or even just save the local copy if you dont live stream.
i use a roxio game capture HD pro and mainly openbroadcaster and works great for me. I first live stream in HD to twitch.tv and then can export the vid to youtube direct from twitch so i am able to get vids up pretty quick. now they may not have all the production value of editing etc but it makes it much easier and requires only the one step. I also can download the raw vids from twitch and edit them if i want also but i am too lazy for all that post production stuff. cant wait until the ps4 and then capture and streaming will be built in. |
