Scout, especially the prototype one. Everything else moves too slow for my taste, and can't vault over obstacles for fun ninja kills |

Considering the shotgun is a CQC weapon, yeah, a shield tanked Scout, maybe with a shield recharger, catalyzer [boosts your run speed] and a damage mod. |

Hey I ran a couple games with you earlier bro, GG ^_^ Shield rechargers don't work well on scouts because they're CPU hogs, and scouts have like, no CPU |

Oh yeah, I know. I used to run scout all the time back in the early builds. But if you can manage to fit one, then your shields are just crazy. Just gotta focus heavily on reducing the CPU usage of all your other items, and making sure your Circuitry is at 4 or 5. And you don't always have to use every module in the suit.
Also, CPU enhancement modules are amazing. |

Assault Type II, B series, or Vk.1 are best
I personally like the scout for it though. |

Honestly I think it boils down to play style.
Assault is more of a support kind of build, and you can go toe to toe with just about anyone in CQC.
Scout is more of a lone wolf kind of build, and relies heavily on the element of surprise, and bunny hopping. |

personal favorite, assault vk1 double lv5 red stim one green lvl 5 stim 3 shield extenders creo-dron proto shotty and nades. thats about all you can fit on that proto suit, caps you out at max pg but you have plenty of cpu to spare. you run as fast (or faster) than a scout (i think around 8.66 m/s sprint i forget but its around there), 4.8 second recharge on shields on that suit (just .8 seconds slower than scout suit) and you can run for days with the lvl 5 green stim. its my favorite suit, i pretend im a scout with the survivability of a tanked out shield suit. peew peew! |

It depends on how you're using the Shotgun.
If you're operating as part of the "blob" in the middle of your team/squad, rushing into front-line combat, hitting hard and retreating, the Shield-tanked Assault suits are a good option. You can fit yourself to move fast, and you don't fall far short of a Scout on shield regen stats, so you can pop into and out of combat pretty cleanly.
If you're working with teammates indirectly, using them as decoys and flanking or hitting enemies from behind, then it's probably better to use a Scout suit.
If you're planning on parking yourself in an easily-defended corner where everybody has to come to you (only viable in a few place on a couple of Skirmish maps), a Heavy Shotgunner is actually a scary option. It's not practical for a lot of uses, but if you can force enemies to rush you, it can rake in a lot of kills (and ISK) before going down. |

Thanks for all the responses guys! I can see it relies really heavily on what you're doing on the field. I'll go ahead and experiment with a few suits and builds and find a good one for me. |

I haven't seen this come up on this thread but I did run across this last night. Dude in a Logi suit w/ a shotgun.
I don't recall the name but the player was pretty good. The logi suit only has one weapon slot so this build takes dedication. However, it's friendly to PG/CPU and some of the better suits have 3 or 4 (prototype) High/Low slots for those that like shield tanking and the stamina/kinetic catalyzers. Or you could go damage mods... seems like the possibilities are endless.
I think some of the top tier logi suits even run faster than assault.
Anyway - this dude made it work and wrecked shop on my AR scout playstyle. Not for me, but that b/c even w/ a shotgun I can't get kills b/c I can never seem to get close.... |
