It is possible to mess with your PS3 to give you an edge - or mod a controller. But there isn't really any program that's going to save you from sucking.

Not yet anyways - once this game launches give it 2 months - someone will figure out how.

I was using aimbot but the last update broke it, so now I'm driving a tank instead.

So because CoD has it - every FPs has botters!! Well guess what... you're right. But not DUST514. We're a client side game unlike CoD and BF3 - hacking a client side game is not only hard - it's risky as hell.

So don't blame your lack of skill on botters - each and every person you consider a botter is simply just much better then you.

Pro tip: you can't cheat in DUST 514. This ain't your Call of Duty Modern Hackware.

What do you mean by "We're a client-side game"?

A client-side game is hosted by the client, and so easily tampered with. Isn't all of the important stuff server-side in DUST?

What he meant is that we're playing a game with a strict server/client separation where the server is under control of a trusted party, rather than a peer-based or player-hosted server.

I cant wait until the FPS actually gets to go over 30 to 60, it severly affects my aim and i don't get the ussual "hacker" pm's as i get on the pc :/

On another note, anyone know if the new ps3 versions are faster in fps or still same speed as the whale first gen phat PS3 i still got ?

I have the new one, i also have the older model.

New model overheats lest, so the overall performance is a bit better. But i can't help feeling that the older model is faster, even with all the overheating problems.

Thanks & damn :/ i was hoping it would be faster, on most of the maps i can feel the grainy mouse cursor hopping instead of being able to adjust it smoothly.

Though i dont see the issue on most people that stream or does afriend that also play it (same version ps3) has any issue witht it.

Don't get me wrong, the newer model is better. Because it doesn't overheat like the older model does, it means longer play with decent FPS. My older model overheats badly after 2 or 3 hours of game play, and the performance drops very quickly. If you have the cash, i will still get the newer model if i was you.

You will be surprise to what length some people will go, to train their reflexes to do things like that. In Counter Strike you even have training maps to improve you Aim and reflexes, to the point where it "may" appear like you cheating.

In fact will be not such a bad idea for CCP to make a Aiming map in the future, so people can improve their Aim and reflexes.

You gonna look into getting one then the performance drop on the one i got seems pretty severe and on occasions it skips right to picture frames (explosions, tanks, 3+ people on my screen)

I have yet to figure out if the massive lag you describe is completely client or server based. Somehow it seems to be either memory leaks and/or something server side or the network connection with the server. When the entire Squad Lag Spikes at Exactly the same instant it cannot be my PS3 with the problem. No to mention that Skim Junction has that inner section that will cause Lag if anything at all gets weird.

Memory leaks mean that a new PS3 will have little to no effect on it as the leaks will occur regardless of the hardware the leaky software is running on.

On a technical note Sony did a die shrink (or two?) but kept the speed the same throughout the upgrades to the PS3 over its, too Kitten Long, live span. The reason was to prevent any particular version of the console from having an advantage. Whether they accomplished that is another story. They may have given that project to the Team that handled security on PSN.

I was debating on getting a newer PS3 as mine is the two USB fat boy which does get loud and sluggish. DUST doesn't push it nearly as hard as split screen Borderlands did though. The Skirmish matches don't last long enough to cause the problems for me. Now I am going to wait until we find out what DUST is going to do when the PS4 comes out.

i was hoping the Die shrink would have sped up the unit but if they kept it in check i guess the new one wont do me any good, unless there is something wrong with mine.

But skim junction is a map i call unplayeble on my PS3, yesterday i took out a regular shotgun vs my duvolle because long range aiming goes out the window on that map and i noticed people not getting damage from my shotgun until and up to 3 seconds after i shot them and any close range aiming was done with sliding picture frames at multiple times.

Some of my Squad Mates have SSDs and they claim those problems are gone. I have no way to verify it personally and am hesitant to invest in a SSD for this old a box. Although this might not be anything more than effectively doing the action mentioned in the link above.
