Oceanic planets:Little islands , some has a CRU on them, you spawn in a MCC fly out with dropships from it's dropship bay. Lava Planets:Like Oceanic planets only with lava MCC is the safest place in the map special vehicles required. Electrical Planets??? Barren Planets:Big wide open maps great for vehicles and long range engagements alike. |

Lava planets look like hey have lots of verticals wall canyons and instakill lava pools. They have stated that thy have a cloud city map working internally. We won't really be able to fight on gas giants until we can place large player owned facilities on/in them I guess.
Oceans will be the hardest, as they will require boats, subs and swimming animations. Boats and ships are hard to do because when you move the ship everything on it has to move with the object. Probably wont get ocean worlds until much much later.

We basically already have the barren planets. A temperate world without vegetation feels pretty barren to me. The can push it further with more sand, sand storms and rocky terrain.
I think the easiest way to handle oceanic planets would be to treat them like gas planets and fight on the installations. Pilots have already deployed colonies to the gas planets so I don't think we have to wait for mercenaries to do the same thing to stay within the lore.
The lava planets aren't all one big molten mess. Treat them like barrens but with more dramatic terrain and skies and some deadly hotspots.
The storm planets would be like barren but with more interesting effects. They should definitely affect scanning due to electrical disturbances. |

Wind and rain on a storm planet? That's crazy talk.

I would honestly expect ocean planets to operate similar to cloud city types; A few platforms with narrow bridges and many choke points, falling equals death. Of course would be cool to see subs, boats, even modules to equip to your suits to allow for swimming. Or special suits for those planet types like ones equipped with jetpacks for cloud city types, and scuba gear for ocean planets. Honestly as swimming goes scouts should be the only ones to be able to traverse water natively. I mean could imagine a heavy swimming?
I would like to see ice planets, maybe with tunnels and most of the map being under the ice or possibly planets with anomalies that mess with sensors, extreme gravity, little gravity, disables certain equipment types like drop uplinks. With many disabilities and advantages certain planet types could bring, would create many diverse maps and you would see corps that are "best" in certain environments. Really sells the whole home-turf feel. |

Sorry for missing letters sneaking posts in long winded physiology/neuroscience lecture. Unless we're fighting in an submerged station. And the ocean is just something we get to look at while we kill one another.
