Is there any good fits for lavs? I have about four I use, one shield repper, one armor repper and an attack (blaster or railgun). I have fun in them because they have damage reduction modules that make them harder to kill. I just now bought a moble CRU and Active scanner to use but I haven't fitted them yet. Is there any suggestions on uses or ideas on tactics? The active scanner can be useful but is it worth loosing a slot? |

Depends, if it's a primary attack LAV you want the scanner to make sure no surprises are thrown your way. If it's logistical, you wouldn't need it as long as the vehicle you're supporting is decently tanked/has a scanner.
CRUs are weird on LAVs, they're resourceful in that they are a highly mobile yet less loud CRU, unlike a CRU dropship. But those things are PG/CPU leeches and leave very little room for anything to protect the assets.
Hope that insight was helpful. And are we talking Chabrydis and Limbus or just your Saga/Methana? |

Methana for the moment. I guess the real problem is the lack of content right now. I see the same people doing the same thing all the time. LAVs are not used for anything except fast travel and running down mercs. I am just looking for something different. I usually don't play fps because they bore me and DUST i starting to ride that wave. I have been playiglng from the start of closed beta and I am ready from some diversity in skills, suits, modules and maps. I WANT TO POP SOME DRONES! |

LAV's where absolute beasts when missile launchers where good. You could drive trough a objective and kill every 1 around it with a Xt-1 fragmented missile launcher. Sad that the only option at the moment are blasters. I was driving LAV's with a passion and known as one of the best drivers out there. Hell i was even so crazy to go into a tank fight with a LAV and actually win that. Another thing that i use LAV's for is when im using the laser rifle. Put alot of shields on it and use them as mobile cover. Works quite well till a forgegunner shows up. Its just sad that one of the most potent killing machines has become only a simple method of transport. Well when we get small autocanons (HMG turret for LAV's/dropships) then i will again tear people apart with a decent gunner on the back. |

LAVs with CRUs are awesome for redlining people in Ambush.
But don't do that, only horrible, nasty people teamkill like that. |

the problem with lavs is that you are tied into baby sitting them or face losing a lot of isk because they blew them selfs up. CCP needs to fix that ******** mechanic and have a bolas come and pick them up. then high level lavs and even dropships might be a little bit useful. |

To make a good LAV you need to skill into the proper modules which take a lot of skills points. I use both the armor and shield LAV and my favorite is by far the shield. the disadvantage for the Shield is price, but your survivability is beyond great.
For the Caldari LAV these are the fittings:
High powered modules: Ward Recharger Ward Recharger Azerothehdifbr whatever shield extender (the best one)
Low powered modules: Power diagnostic unit at 7% Power diagnostic unit at 7%
and a scattered neutron blaster.
other skills to use that LAV is the shield recharger skill at least shield recharger 4 shield enhancer at 5 and and CPU reducing skills.
the LAV may not have a booster but the recharge rate is at about +28% or more with +2100 shields. recharge rate is insane and it can take a pounding. My gunners usually don't die unless its a precision strike (PFBH...) I also have stats for my really good methana but I'm at work and now one wants me to ramble on about stats I don't have with me right now. sorry for rambling but there you go. |

I want to fit a LAV with an acive scanne, last build they workd at first but faled later on. Has anyone used an active scanner on a fit or even know of one being use? I believe it could be useful in the right situation. |

the active scanners are actually quite useful but unless you have the highest one they won't reveal all the enemies you have to have your skills pretty high to catch every red dot cause people can skill into the profile dampening hence why later into the builds the scanners got less and less accurate as people got their dampening higher. in any case an active scanner uses a minimal amount of cpu/pg and is nice for when you have an empty slot but can't really fit anything else into it. plus is makes a funny sound and looks cool. its been my experience with the mobile CRUs in lavs no one really wants to spawn in on them cause lavs are squishy. |

I wish could get some points for vehicle reps and shield transfer, sucks loosing ISK on a mid range mid fit LAV. I have reped or transfered the entie battle in one LAV with zero kills and make few WP. I do it now only to try to keep my skills up. |
