I'd like to show some love and give praise to Kain Spero. Thanks for the hard work you devoted to tournament . Not only was it successful, it was also lore worthy. You should be proud of your accomplishments.
I thoroughly enjoy the idea of making DUST a league of sorts. I'd like to see individual mercenaries receiving limelight and highlight reels, while impressive performances by different corporations being brought to the forefront of our attention. If NewEdenSports is well supported and maintained (Something that I am personally willing to help ensure), our community will make this game more interesting than CCP could ever do.
My suggestion - open to both Kain and the community for criticism - is to have a tournament for the "Most Underrated Dust Corp". Corporations like Imperfects, STB, PFBHz and Zion have beaten the end-game of DUST (in its current state). We have a name for our corporation. That's all there is to do in this game. It is much easier said than done, however. These corps are but a fraction of the thousands of corporations struggling to become famous. I think focusing on these corps will give NewEdenSports a more diverse community, one that is filled with both veterans and newer players. Focusing on these corporations will also make for more interesting betting and forum activity. I'm sure DustersBlog would love to interview the corporations that make it into the tournament. That would be information EVE players hopefully look for as they place their bets on lesser known corps. It will also give the younger players - the ones who have been pub stomped into paste - their chance to shine. Everyone wins in my eyes.
If this idea is interesting to someone other than myself, I'd love to hear some thoughts on it. Hopefully we can continue to make this game fun in our own way, and bring some fame to DUST ourselves. Take care,

Id like to see onward defrosted tuna team, massive dynamic (are they still around), rogue spades, among others, maybe even Unreal can get in on the action and really establish a name for themselves in a safe space.
I kid; all trolls aside yea i like this.
I suggested about a week ago in the war room we also try to create a channel outside or inside of LFBattle to do a schoolyard style pickup 8v8 battles as well.
Basically 2 corps host the match they each pick 2 squad leaders. They determine who gets first pick by some arbitrary method maybe use a third party to flip a coin or pick a number, whatever.
They then alternate and pick players from any corp other than their own(maybe allow 1-2 players from host corp max) and just create 8 player teams and go at it.
Maybe even expand that further and create squads. Get 4-8 squad leaders on UVT in that channel and que sync which would force us on opposite teams and play it in pubs.
Gives the more competitive players a way to play against other players who want to battle it out in a good fight.
I could see New Eden sports be a place that could allow that type of matches to take place. Heck maybe even schedule it in advance. |
