Wtf is this? Why does it exist? If I want to spend the isk and call in 37 tanks and park them in a line, I should be able to, and not have them get all emo on me and kill themselves. Seriously, wtf? |

Yep. IMHO vehicle self destruction is not a good idea. Either they remain that way till the enemy destroys them or we should be able to send them back.
The self destruct is to fix glitchy maps that cannot handle too many vehicles. Yet another example of a band aid instead of a fix. |

There is a cap of like 5 vehicles per team at a time.
If you spawn 5 freebie militia LAVs, your team wouldn't be able to spawn in the OMG-OP tanks later on and steal all your kills. So unattended vehicles go poof after a while.

ThatGÇÖs a team issue though. There is no logical (I know... itGÇÖs a video game) reason for vehicles to randomly self destruct. You should be able to set it so itself destructs, but it shouldn't be automatic. |

There's a limit to the number of vehicles allowed in play at any one time.
Self-destruct is something you want to happen if the enemy is trying to hack your high-tier HAV though, because losing it is better than having it used against you (until you remember that you get it back if it survives, which is also stupid, imo).
I think that, after the current self-destruct delay, there should be an automated RDV pickup request instead. If you WANT to send your vehicle back, you should also be able to request pickup while you're in the driver's seat (and it's a vehicle you own) using the usual d-pad right menu. Doing this should lock the vehicle and kick everyone out (including you).
If the RDV is shot down, the vehicle will instead self-destruct to prevent misuse, since it's obviously in enemy-controlled territory. Not "the RDV pilot was a moron", because that's not a sensible reason at all. |

It should have a timer like redline at least so you don't hop out and not realize the thing is going to blow. |

So I think having a module active prevents it from starting to degrade and then destruct. For this reason I always wait to activate my damage control until the last minute. I think you get a full 60 seconds with the damage control which lets you extend the time that the vehicle will stick around by at least that much time. Plus you can quickly look and see when it is up. |
