Stop seriously.
The reason you see people running around in proto gear pubstomping is because there is literally NOTHING else to spend the ISK on
thats the reason
Thats the only reason

I think the true reason is because so few have proto gear to fight back with. Take a match I was playing yesterday. My team came in on Line Harvest and quickly took B, C, and D. As we starting moving in on A to redline our opponents, one of our opponent squads decided to switch to their AUR proto fits. Slowly, they lead the charge holding A followed by taking B then C then D. Still, my team fought back where we lost but not by much. My squad was particularly proud of our performance even though clearly outgeared. I am sure CCP also appreciated us for also relieving those players of their AUR proto fits whenever we could so they would have to buy more. |

I have a few proto items, but mainly run around in GEK Glass cannon suit. It gets the job done and allows me to bank some isk.
My main problem is I have SP all over the place with this toon being this was my first toon in Dust and didn't know what role I would like.
CCP....can we has SP reassign twice per year? /winkity wink |

Actually it's because matchmaking doesn't work at all right now, and pits brand new players against teams with 2-3 full squads of vets. The vets then equip the best gear they can, and stomp the match, raising their KDR and making them believe they're better than they actually are.
Here's hoping next build comes with a properly functioning matchmaking system |

Exactly, its no the fault of players for playing the best possible way they can. Its CCPs for a wack development schedule and a failure to manage progression and lumping us all in the same 4 maps. (thats a hurry up CCP nudge. I only say that because Im selfish and eagerly bouncing up and down in anticipation of more awesome features and expanded gameplay - if there are no new maps in the next build you are going to crush alot of players).
In the eve beta progression was managed because of other skills, such as industry, research, learning and social skills and a huge safe are to play. Dust only has dropsuit, vehicle and weapon skills and only one game mode. |

proto pubstomps have nothing to do with matchmaking outside of capability...
Your going to get proto pubstomps no matter what possable matchmaking system you use |

Not really. There's a HUGE difference between fielding all proto gear against a team full of similar skilled and geared opponents as opposed to fielding full proto gear vs a bunch of new players fresh off the chopping block.
If you can't see that, then I'm not quite sure what else to tell you. |

Agreed
However, if they do implement this system I demand a uber epeen Visual ranking system.

Step 1: Quit caring about KDR, it is meaningless in the long run and is at best a flawed measure of a players skill (says the guy with a crap KDR I know lol)
Step 2: Don't fear the gear. Better gear gives a small advantage, better tactics and skill will best it, so will numbers. (When your opponent has skills, gear, and numbers...well then cower in the corner like a scared kitten)
Step 3: Remember its all about the ISK baby. I picked up this knowledge from the EVE vets around here, but what actual wars in New Eden usually come down to is how much ISK is lost. If you are running a standard suit that costs around 20K ISK and going against someone in protogear that costs 200K ISK, if you go 2/10 against the guy, you've won. Sure you died 10 times and the KDR looks bad, however, he just spent twice as much ISK as you did.
Keep those 3 things in mind and protogear in a pub match hopefully will not bother you nearly as much. |

I don't see any reason to own an aurum proto suit if I can already wear the ISK variant proto suit. |
