I know this topic has been brought up before, but thought I would try and get more discussion on it.
Pub stomping is boring,on either side of it - end of; about the only good thing, is that it finishes the game quickly.
At the same time, skirmish and ambush are getting boring. I know that corporation battles can be fairly interesting, but with regards to rewards there doesn't seem to be much point in doing the game (unless someone's put down a huge amount of ISK into the contract). There is also the issue of only 8 people being allowed in from each side.
There should be a skirmish mode, which are squads only, you can put one squad in, or all 4 squads. The regulars would all play this mode, as it would give SP, ISK and salvage; it would also be more enjoyable with up to 16 people allowed into the game from the corp and be more competitive. At the same time if you only have one squad on, you would also go into this mode; as there would be no noobs or AFKs in the match (probably).
This would clear up the normal skirmish for the noobs, meaning they aren't on the receiving end of as many pub stomps; so they would have a gentler introduction into Dust.
I know that the PVE mode that is being mooted with the new patch, would solve these issues; but that patch is likely to be some way off, at this present time. This method would hopefully be a quick fix, and would keep more people playing in the short term. |

The easiest solution would be to either nerf health and damage mods or make them more accessible to newbies so that they can actually stand a chance against older players. |

/thread Im sorry but i will probably never stop going into pub matches... yes i will do the FW but it will not be an "every time i get on thing" unless of course i am defending a very wanted territory (in which case it will be lost very fast because i have a hard enough time getting everyone on on weekends for a corp battle or 2) So in my down time I will not spend it randomly attacking planets or whatever with the few people i can wrangle up. i will just hop into pub matches for extra sp and isk also i doubt FW will reward sp like corp battles |

Only if easiest means not doing anything at all and leaving all the problems just as they are. |

@postmanclark2, I posted a Request on the Request/Feedback Forum and linked to this post. I requested adding a filter to the new and improved but as yet undelivered new Battle Finder to include a Squad Filter.
Gave you attribution, hope you don't mind. |

Or just introduce a higher tier of ambush/skirmish with higher isk/sp rewards to encourage people in protosuits to fight there instead. Have a seperate kdr, w/l and wp boards for the higher tiers too. It won't stop people pubstomping, but it would allow us to see who are the pubstomping scrub corps if they never play in the higher tiers.
At the same time, remove the time based sp accrual in battle, make it solely dependant on wp gained. That's the easiest way to erradicate akf farming and useless redline snipers. |

Easy matchmaking
If you go solo you get put into a game with 31 other solo players, no groups allowed
If you go in with a 2-4man group everyone else will be in a group, no solos allowed |

So you thrn can't play with your corp mates. Great idea
they can't do anything with only a few hundred now playing.
We have 2 crap game modes, one of which has been broken for 2 weeks.
Every game now is free for all moronic garbage.

Right now I'm convinced whatever matchmaking system may or may not be in place, it regularly queues two to three squads up against one or no squads. It may be matching SP totals up, but it's clearly failing to consider the effect organized squads have. I'll take three organized squads and less SP between us all over a team with higher SP and no squads any day of the week.
Further, this new no squad system, wherein unsquadded peeps can join partial squads is cool, but means there is no way a matchmaking program can account for squads formed after the match has filled up. Random squads of this sort are, generally, inferior to corp squads, but they can still make a significant impact.
As soon as it is possible to avoid pub matches, yet still be able to queue up whenever I want, pub matches are history for me and mine. They. Are. Horrible. A year of tweaking and they're worse than ever. |

This idea seems to be rather logical and (dare I say) easy to implement.
As it is now the player base is dwindling because of boredom (from the vets POV) and (from the noobs POV) a very high sp differential mixed with the steep learning curve.
Both causes for concern would be alliviated with a simple matchmaking system as mentioned above. As the vets wouldn't pub stomp so baddly against noobs thus being boring and disheartning for both parties involved.
It's that easy... solo joes are by themselves and groups would be launched together. |
