I've done some searching, and much reading regarding the PS3/Dust memory leak. Everyone I've talked to in-game experiences this, and requires a reset after a couple hours gameplay.
I've found a couple posts in here with people mentioning the same issue, but cannot find one where a Dev has acknowledged the issue directly. I'm guessing they're aware of it... but aside from having to reset the system every couple hours.. is there anything that can be done to reduce this issue?
It seems to hit out of the blue. Last game played was fine. Audio, chat, framerates were fine. Next game starts out well... and only a couple minutes in the framerate takes a serious dump without warning, and progressively gets worse untill the game is unplayable.
Bit of a kick in the hole if you've called in a rather expensive piece of hardware before it got twitchy.. |

Don't call in expensive gear.
But seriously, there are several indicators regarding the memory leak (which was acknowledged in some manner that I don't recall) from the earlier builds. However, this is a Beta and features come and go. I would always assume there are memory leaks in Beta software of any kind.
If you are getting severe Audio Glitches time to restart DUST.
If you get significantly slower than normal input response in Quarters while using the Market or Fittings menus ... restart DUST.
If you have been playing for two or three hours and are heading into an important match, restart first. Some just log out of PSN* and that process will allow/force DUST to restart at the Character Selection screen.
Hope this helps.
* And if someone would share How they do this I would appreciate it. I tried last night (3/9/2013) and could not find the method to do it. |

I can answer that one. Hit your PS button ( center of your DS controller ). Scroll left to users. Press the Triangle button on your current user, and select log out. Then sign back in. This will allow you to change characters on your account without dashboarding. Saves a bit of time vs. a complete game/console reset.
In my experience however, it does not fix the memory leak issue as effectively as a complete system restart.
P.S. Expensive gear is fun, and effective when the game runs well. I -do- only call in what I can afford to lose. I'd just rather lose it in a stand up fight. Not twitching back and forth, locked out of all movement control waiting for an opportunistic forge gunner to punch my ticket :p |

If you're not changing PSN logins, but just want to back out to the character select screen with the same PSN ID you're already using, this might be just a hair faster:
PS Menu, scroll right to the Network stuff, scroll up to "Account Settings," hit [triangle] and choose "Log Out of PSN"
Might save you ten or fifteen or twenty seconds on the whole turnaround.
