Hey
This tread is to find out accurate information on CCP shanghai dev staff experience, ability and how that stack up as a developers size against other developers doing similar work.
The intention is we will be able to accurately get a sense of Shanghais total work load, organization, their staff size and production development rates.
By using dev staff numbers and experience as a ref point I am trying to figure out if shanghai is a developer performing well or under performing relative to the rest of the industry as well if they have the staff for what they are trying to accomplish as well as projected work they could get done in a week/month
We will do this by compiling information on each senor staff members experience, expected work hours, staff size under them as well as management experience and equipment/tech dev tools they may or may not be using.
How you can help: You can help by sourcing publicly available information on CCP shanghai.
This can be done through job board postings interviews and other such source-able information CCP has released to public knowledge.
any information presented that has no source material to back it up will be disregarded and is not welcome in the tread.
No rumors hearsay or anything like that is useful or welcome. I will also be searching the internet for information on each department in Shanghai and posting here as I find it.
Here is the ref article on the kind of source information I am looking for. http://jobs.gamasutra.com/jobs/42014-27002/Senior-Backend-Programmer-CCP-China-Shanghai-CHN
From articles like that I want you to extract all useful staff and dev information and post it below and also post the link to the thread for fact checking. |

I'm a harsh critic of CCP in EvE and Dust but this is stupid. There is no point to this then to bash CCP and go after staff members personally.
If you have a specific issue with dust or CCP then raise that but this just seems childish |

Eh, seems a little invasive to datamine CCP employees to make sure they're working hard enough.
Tell you what, I'll make another thread where we dig up as much personal info about you as the forumgoers can track down and we'll use it to make sure you're qualified to judge CCP. |

whats invasive about compiling information CCP itself has released and getting reviews and info from previous CCP employees? clearly if we have information from people who have worked for CCP or can gather enough information we can submit it to the gaming industry at large and have them (people who are experianced developers or industry insiders/consultants) make a educated opinion.
but the information needs to be collected to know either way now does it not? |

Similarly, what would be invasive about collecting personal information any private individual has provided on the internet and collating it for analysis and cross-referencing?
Harduwich Jung wrote:but the information needs to be collected to know either way now does it not? No, it doesn't. Nothing in your argument even remotely approaches reaching this conclusion. |

Compiling information will give us a better understanding of CCP shanghai and even could help us predict things like ps4 porting as well as other information by what sort of staff they are hiring and what experience they are looking for.
The intention is we will be able to accurately get a sense of Shanghais total work load, organization, their staff size and production development rates.
By using dev staff numbers and experience as a ref point I am trying to figure out if shanghai is a developer performing well or under performing relative to the rest of the industry as well if they have the staff for what they are trying to accomplish as well as projected work they could get done in a week/month . Why? How could understanding what people do in a certain branch of CCP tell us what dust will be like on the PS4? They'd have to release that information, stalking them doesn't help. There is really no reason for this, it's borderline witch hunt. There's no point in finding out what their work load is/how they stack up to other developers (What would you do with that information anyways? Ask them to work harder?). Are you trying to get people fired? Because that's not cool. |
