No disrespect to CCP but the single dot reticle is horrible. Hit detection is already trashed but that single dot reticle doesn't make it any better. i understand that this is still in it's (Beta) testing phase but this isn't something I'm requesting to be acted on right this moment but definitely before full release. There are far too many technical bugs to consider this top priority. In case anyone is wondering where I'm getting this from it's mainly from the vehicle and sniper perspective.
Snipers for one are way too easy to use but the single dot makes it incredibly easy to hit a perfect between-the-eyes shot. Seriously, how easy is it to snipe someone when there's no bullet drop, wind or bullet speed to worry about. And then on top of that you just have put a single dot on the red to hit him.
Secondly, would be the vehicles. These could seriously use some reticle updates. For instance the LAV. Due to the low defenses and almost nonexistent offense nature of the LAVs they have become useless other than for driving to the nearest objective or running over reds. It's hard to believe that they're supposed to be able to actually take out light infantry. They aren't very worthy of the "A" in their name. It's certainly not the turrets they can do the damage when they hit. But it's increasingly difficult to keep a single dot focused on the enemy when your moving or bouncing over a few small bumps. This goes twice for the blaster turrets which unlike the others have no splash damage.
Suggestions:
- A U or <+> shaped reticles
- A large triangle would better fit the railguns. For example, the triangle is large in size but as it charges it grows smaller and smaller until fired. Thus displaying the charge while at the same time improving a players personal accuracy (not to be mistaken with the weapons accuracy).

Wait, it's awful because it works like it should?
You dare say that it's easy to get a headshot with a sniper rifle. Well, of course it is. When people stand still. It's easy to get a headshot with pretty much any weapon when the target stands still, even without a scope. If you stay moving, many snipers will generally opt for a bodyshot, which itself isn't exactly easy to pull off when the target is moving quickly and erratically. |
