Stay with me, it's not what you think (I think).
I'm talking about a huge blob of energy that slowly follows the target. Voracious tracking, huge damage, but only traveling ~.75m per second and with only about 1/2~2/3 the range of an average forge gun. Only locks on to vehicles, but can be dumb fired as well (round traveles in a straight line). The round would be about 8m in diameter, require breach forge level of charge time (maybe a little more), and do about 1.75x the amount of damage as a normal forge gun. Not to mention, it would look totally badass. The lock could only be acquired after the forge is fully charged and takes about .75~1.5 seconds to lock, and the splash would be about 3 meters. It would be GREAT for close range forge gunning (aka good for dropping tanks camping a spawn/dropping spawn camping infantry) as well as a fair form of ranged area denial.
Just wondering if you guys would find this interesting. It would be great fun, but I'm not sure about how useful it would be strategically, it might be just a fun toy to play with on the side.
Then again, I suppose there are plenty of weapons here I could say the same thing about. *ahem "sleek locust grenades"* *ahem "missile turrets"* *AHEM "breach AR"* |

And why not? It's lighting up the whole EM spectrum to the point it would be impossible to ignore. kinda re-tarded that the tacnet can't pick up such a large energy signature as well Actually I quite agree. Perhaps there should be a function for tank turrets to follow high signature enemies by holding down L1 or something. |

Its like a SL except more OP
Except not, because of this:
Tiel Syysch wrote:I hope you realize that at a speed of .75 m/s, it'd only go 22.5 meters after 30 secs of travel time. And yes, I do realize that .75 m/s means 22.5 meters after 30 secs. The speed is the limiting factor that keeps it from being unreasonable. It's not for instant vehicle destruction, instead it puts a danger in the air that the vehicle has to remain aware of until the round comes in contact with something. Basically, it becomes a vehicle deterrent weapon. I'll add that bit to the OP to make that clearer. |
