Shields flare currently when you shoot someone but are hitting near the edges of the players profile, often doing no damage. This, I suppose, is because rounds are glancing off of your shields. I'd like for people to at least take partial shield damage when their shield flares, even if it's only 1/3 damage they would normally take. Even if it's only 1/3 damage to the shields and wont damage armor at all. You should be doing SOME damage to that scout who's strafing like a mad man but only shield flaring as he closes in with a shotgun, even if it is only to his shields. Rounds are still connecting. If a bullet glances off of metal, it still leaves marks and/or an indention in it, it should work the same way with shields. It should do SOMETHING to them. |

Shield Flare is a client-side indicator so you get immediate feedback on where you're shooting. Hit detection is handled server-side, so if your shots miss according to the server, you get the flare without the damage. |

Its more of a lag issue though >< but yes you can blame it lore wise as glancing shots.
Its mostly with the projectile based weapons such as sniper rifles that suffer this the most unfortunately. |
