Like in topic.
Era of foot solidiers are going to the end. Can we have laser turrets on HAV or any vehicle?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain CCP is going to add a vehicle for each race and appropriate weapons for each race's vehicles in the future.
Myself, I can't wait for artillery and autocannons. |

Wasnt there something about plasma turrets as well ?
But regarding your suggestion, would only make sense to see bigger lasers for vehicles. |

Nah.. large lasers are to powerfull. Small beams with huge numbers will be stuning visual.
LAV: Jumping ones with crazy spin with one laser beam can do crazy 'harvest'
HAV - light version: Only small beam allowed but max 5. What the view at night or 'combing' sky.
.. ok maybe ONE large beam that can cut mountain in half ;)
DS: Something like in Terminator opening when SkyNet purge humans from surface.
Maybe this is good way to add another beam when you skill up. Something similiar to more rocket for SwarmLauncher. From 1 small beam to 5 pointing to same target. |

After watching a video of a Visam user today I am convinced that laser turrets are the perfect weapon for dropships.
The key difference is that lasers deal damage based on time-on-trigger, not time-on-target. It's difficult to keep a blaster trained on target long enough to kill, but with a laser all you need to do is heat it up and sweep it across he target to melt it. The beam is continuous so you can't miss by sweeping too fast and you don't need to hold it there for long as it deals thousands of HP of damage per second when fully heated. It's basically as easy to operate as an easer tool in a drawing program.
That would make dropships the equivalent of a Martian War Machine and return them to the dominance we enjoyed during the reign of the small missile.
CCP, get on it! |

I've long thought that a laser firing from a dropship would be absolutely amazing. The only part that saddens me is I'm in love with most things caldari |

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that lasers and dropships were meant for each other. Their strengths and weakness are perfectly matched.
Dropship weakness: Maintaining target contact. Laser strength: You don't need to maintain contact.
Laser weakness: Must maintain distance Dropship strength: Is always near optimal laser range
Laser Weakness: CQC Dropship strength: You can't engage it in CQC
Laser weakness: Needs a clear LoS for long distances Dropship Strength: Altitude gives LoS almost anywhere
Laser weakness: Everyone knows where you are Dropship strength: So what, everyone knows where you are already and the dropship is always moving. |
