The character builder of EvE can create amazing looking characters set high enough. Now part of me is curious is such a rapid cloning process degrading to the physical form in anyway? Obviously dying so many times can create instability in the psyche but do we look more bland with no features really defined? Has the cloning technology of the Sleepers and Jovians perfected enough that even such a rapid process create individuals?
Also are the clones come from set stock? Like 4 templates (each class) and we just play one strain of that template that is fully independent from the other clones. Or do we walk up to a Dust recruiter "I want to be an immortal clone mercenary"? |

According to fiction on the DUST 514 website, all DUST clones look like physically fit, albino, hairless men.
The only unique part of any DUST clone is their voice, which is the same as their old one. |

Of course, this is really old info. It's totally possible that they might have changed some of it around. Maybe they have female templates now as well, which would explain the appearance of female mercenaries.
Combat clones will remain this way most likely (cept woman gender is now available and they're probably just as bland) they are also very tall starting at 7ft at least.
This does not dismiss the idea that we can have a instation social clone one day though that's highly customized and just as expensive as an eve clone. |

There is a reference in the very first "Stranded" story to Balac knowing that a particular dead clone had his face, so perhaps the Beta generation mercs have more individuality?

Rumors have it that the clone bodies we use for combat are just disposable corpses that get picked up by drones and sent to a biomass facility for storage to be later reactivated. Most of the time these bodies have gone through a lot of hell before that point so I wouldn't want to see how I look like when I get into a clone that been abused over several months.
However, rumors also suggest that the clone body we see in the merc quarters is different and probably similar in quality and strength as that of the capsuleer clones. |

I could see that.
Imagine for a moment here you are in your quarters and the mission pops up "Caldari attempt to push into Federation Space" You move with a lethal purpose and plug in, much like a capsuleer does. Your mind is sent half way across the galaxy to the waiting battle barge were all that you are is implanted into disposable battle clones. Girdled for war and armed with the most lethal weapons known to New Eden you take that first Orbital Jump of the next long grueling war. As you fall for the last time and you are out of battle clones your mind goes half way across the galaxy back to your original form.
You wake, disoriented and sick from such a mind numbing experience. How many times did you die in that war? How many wounds does your mind remember but your body does not show. It takes time to get the strength back in your limbs. It was just one more war. A billion souls lost their lives in the nuclear fires of orbital bombardments but you remain. You have become an immortal, a godling that could shake the foundations of heavens if given the chance. What is one death, 100, or even a thousand. Each one gives you that little bit more experience to hone you into a more lethal weapon.
Your comm goes off once more "Angel Cartel attack on Federation space. Requesting help from the mercenary armies of Dust". What is one more war? |

You could always go back to Matar and cry about losing yourself if you think that would help some. Gallente medicine can fix you that is why you should come live with us. A fifth of your race already does. |

The cartoons are actually pretty okay. Anything with Anakin/whatshername stinks, anything with Obi-wan or some other pretty important character is so-so, anything focusing on the clones exclusively... usually can get pretty heavy, actually. There was one episode where two clone task forces were tricked into firing on one another by their traitor commander. The episode ended with him getting executed on screen.
Another one with a clone manually detonating a group of thermal detonators so they could disable the broadcasting post he was stationed at. Droid commandos had essentially locked the clones out of the system, so blowing it up was the only way to effectively broadcast distress.
They do a really good job of personifying the clones in this series. It bugs me that all the other episodes are so bland. |

The Clone Wars cartoon can be shockingly graphic. Best parts I agree are with the clones. The movies made the Stormtroopers out to be clowns but the books they are a lethal and brutal army that is well trained and equipped. In the cartoon the clones get some good loving. But lol slight divergence of the topic. Still clones, just not clones being referenced ^_^ |

Poor Cortana. It's probably because they're the most flexible. They don't have to do anything other than be soldiers, so the writers pretty much get free reign to make them as epic as possible.
Also, on the one episode at the clone training facility when Delta Squad showed up...

It was indeed Balac. It's interesting coming face to face with your own dead body.
And as several people have pointed out already, clones in battle are plain generic clones built to fight and die. At the end of a battle all the clones are nuked remotely and you jump to another clone somewhere else, whether it's in your quarters or (perhaps in the future) in another battle. While it hasn't been confirmed, it would not surprise me in the slightest if we get higher quality clones for when we're back on a station/war barge that actually looks like us (or how we decided to sculpt ourselves today). |
